Author Manuscript Submission Guide

Preparation Before Submission

Manuscripts submitted to SDÜ İFADE must be original works that have not been previously published and are not under simultaneous consideration by another journal. Manuscripts may be prepared in Turkish or English.

Depending on the manuscript type and the nature of the research, the following files must be prepared in full before submission:

The Response to Reviewer Comments Form must also be used during the revision stage.

All downloadable documents are available on the Forms and Templates page.

Authors should consult the Writing Rules and Manuscript Template for manuscript preparation requirements.

Required Files and Documents

The following files must be uploaded through the DergiPark system during submission.

Anonymous Full Manuscript

The Anonymous Full Manuscript must not contain information that may reveal author identity in order to preserve the integrity of the double-blind peer review process.

Title Page Form

The Title Page Form must include:

  • manuscript title,
  • author information,
  • institutional affiliations,
  • ORCID iDs,
  • corresponding author information,
  • article type,
  • source of the study,
  • required explanations.

Copyright Form

The Copyright Form must be completed and signed by all authors.

Similarity Report

A similarity report based on the current version of the Anonymous Full Manuscript must be submitted during application.

Ethics Committee Documents

Depending on the nature of the research, authors must upload:

Completion and Signing of Forms

The text fields in the forms provided by the journal must be completed digitally in Microsoft Word.

Option fields must be marked using actual and selectable Word checkboxes.

For mutually exclusive options, only the appropriate single option should be selected. Where multiple selections are possible, all applicable options should be selected.

Documents requiring signatures must be completed in Word, signed, scanned, and uploaded to the system as PDF files.

The Copyright Form must be signed by all authors.

The Title Page Form must be signed by the corresponding author. For studies that do not require ethics committee approval, the Declaration of No Requirement for Ethics Committee Approval Form is also signed by the corresponding author and uploaded to the system as a separate file.

The Response to Reviewer Comments Form does not require a signature or author identification information. The form should be completed digitally in Word and uploaded through the system.

The following controlled names must be used exactly in the guidelines, DergiPark links, document titles, and editorial correspondence:

Article Types and Language

SDÜ İFADE accepts submissions in the following article types:

  • Research Article,
  • Review Article,
  • Theoretical Article,
  • Book Review,
  • Translation.

Authors must select only one appropriate article type in the Title Page Form.

A manuscript being derived from a thesis, conference presentation, or research project is not considered an article type. Such information must be separately indicated in the Source of the Study section.

For manuscripts derived from conference presentations, the name, location, and date of the event and how the manuscript was developed beyond the previous version must be explained.

For translation manuscripts, written permission obtained from the copyright holder or relevant publisher and the original text must also be submitted.

Anonymization for Double-Blind Review

SDÜ İFADE applies a double-blind peer review system.

The Anonymous Full Manuscript must not contain information that may reveal author identity.

The following information must not appear in the Anonymous Full Manuscript:

  • author names and surnames,
  • institutional affiliation, department/unit, and city information,
  • e-mail addresses,
  • ORCID iDs,
  • acknowledgement information,
  • project information that may reveal identity,
  • author information contained in document properties,
  • identity-revealing information in headers, footers, or comments.

The file name, Word document properties, tracked changes, and comments must not reveal author identity.

Word automatically stores the author's name in the document properties; before submission, make sure this information (under File / Info / Properties) has been cleared.

Do not delete or reformat the author information box (the grey-shaded field) or the other fields reserved for double-blind review in the Manuscript Template — simply leave their contents empty during anonymous submission. After acceptance, the editor and production team complete these fields using the verified information from the Title Page Form.

If institutional or ethics committee information directly reveals author identity, it should be appropriately anonymized in the Anonymous Full Manuscript.

Self-citations should be retained when scientifically necessary; however, wording that directly reveals author identity should be avoided.

DergiPark Metadata Entry

During submission, Turkish and English metadata entered into the DergiPark system must be complete, accurate, and consistent with each other.

The following information must be checked:

  • manuscript title,
  • abstract,
  • keywords,
  • author information,
  • institutional affiliations,
  • country information,
  • e-mail addresses,
  • ORCID iDs,
  • corresponding author,
  • funding institution or project information,
  • ethical and other declarations.

Information entered into DergiPark must not differ from the information provided in the Title Page Form.

Similarity Report

A similarity report based on the current Anonymous Full Manuscript must be submitted.

The expected limits are:

  • overall similarity rate: 20% or below,
  • similarity from a single source: 3% or below.

Numerical similarity rates alone do not determine ethical compliance. The nature of matched content is also evaluated during editorial assessment.

Ethics Committee and Research Ethics Documents

Ethics committee requirements must be fulfilled according to the nature of the research.

Studies requiring ethics committee approval must upload a readable Ethics Committee Approval Document.

Studies that do not require ethics committee approval must use the Declaration of No Requirement for Ethics Committee Approval Form. This declaration can be downloaded from the Forms and Templates page as a separate document, completed in Word, saved as a PDF, and uploaded under the "Supporting File" field during manuscript submission.

This declaration is not an official ethics committee exemption document and cannot replace a required ethical approval.

Participant consent, permissions, and other ethical obligations must also be fulfilled according to the nature of the research.

Article Declarations

Authors must include the required declarations at the end of the Anonymous Full Manuscript without revealing author identity.

Article Declarations should include the following sections according to the nature of the research:

  • Ethics Committee Approval,
  • Participant Consent,
  • Publication Ethics,
  • Source of the Study,
  • Funding,
  • Conflict of Interest,
  • Author Contributions (CRediT),
  • Data Availability,
  • Use of Generative AI,
  • Acknowledgements.

When a declaration is not applicable, an appropriate explanation should be provided under the relevant heading.

Author Contributions (CRediT)

Author contributions must be specified on an author-by-author basis according to the CRediT (Contributor Roles Taxonomy).

Only roles that were actually performed in the research process should be indicated. The same list of contributions should not be assigned automatically to all authors.

For single-author manuscripts, the following statement is sufficient:

"The entire research process was conducted by the author."

Use of Generative AI

When generative artificial intelligence tools are used, authors must follow the journal's Generative AI Policy.

AI tools:

  • cannot be listed as authors or co-authors,
  • do not remove scientific responsibility from authors.

The AI tools used, their purpose, and scope of use should be disclosed in the article declarations when required.

Authors should consult the Generative AI Policy for detailed principles.

Copyright, Licensing, and Third-Party Content

Copyright of articles published in SDÜ İFADE remains with the authors.

Published articles are distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0).

Authors should consult the Copyright and Licensing Policy for detailed information regarding copyright and licensing conditions.

Authors are responsible for obtaining necessary permissions for:

  • tables,
  • figures,
  • photographs,
  • visual materials,
  • scales,
  • extended direct quotations,
  • other third-party materials.

Permission documents must be provided when requested.

Submission and Editorial Evaluation Process

Submissions are made through the DergiPark system.

After submission, manuscripts undergo editorial pre-check regarding:

  • required documents,
  • anonymization requirements,
  • formatting requirements,
  • ethical compliance,
  • similarity report.

Manuscripts passing the initial evaluation enter the double-blind peer review process.

For detailed evaluation stages, authors should consult the Review and Publication Process page.

Submission of Revisions

For manuscripts requiring revision, authors must upload the following files through the DergiPark system:

The response document must clearly and systematically indicate:

  • editor and reviewer comments,
  • author responses,
  • revisions made,
  • page/line information.

Authors should respond only to the evaluation sections communicated to them.

The Response to Reviewer Comments Form must be uploaded as an unsigned Word file.

Following revision, manuscripts may be sent to the same reviewers or, when necessary, to new reviewers.
