Sosyal adalet günümüz dünyasında benimsenmiş sosyo-ekonomik ve siyasi düzlemde toplumsal refahın sağlanmasının belki en önemli faktördür. Sosyal adalet, kamu otoritesi tarafından sunulan refah hizmetlerine eşit erişimin devlet tarafından taahhüt edilmesidir ve bu yönü itibariyle bireylere sunulması gereken bir zorunluluktur. Refah düzeyini koruyarak insanca bir yaşamın temin edilmesi için hayata geçirilen sosyal politikaların başarılı olabilmesinin ilk şartı bu politikaların sosyal adalet felsefesine göre inşa edilmiş olmasıdır. Aslında sosyal adalet sosyal, politikanın temel felsefesidir ve bir nevi onun anayasası olarak görülebilir. Sosyal adalet felsefesinin temelinde ise refahın kırılganlığı yer alır. Eğer asgari ve insani bir yaşam toplumun tüm sınıf veya gruplarına sağlanamaz; herhangi birisi refah hizmetlerinin dışında tutulursa toplumsal refah ve barıştan söz edilemez. Bugün en temel yatırım ve gelişim alanı olan uzay programları ve araştırmaları da sosyal adalet açısından değerlendirilmelidir. Bu programlara katılım sosyal adalet şiarına göre yapılmak zorunda olmakla birlikte uzay yarışının bir aşıra yaklaşan hikayesinde para-astronot yer alamamıştır. Bu durum hem sosyal devlet anlayışıyla çelişmekte hem de beşerî sermayeden efektif olarak faydalanmanın önüne geçmektedir. Çalışma kapsamında bir temel problem ifadesi ve buna ulaşmak için üç alt problem ifadesi kurgulanmıştır. Bu kapsamda uzay programlarına engelli bireylerin katılımının hem sosyal adalet hem de diğer bakış açılarına göre bir zorunluluk olduğu net bir şekilde ortaya konmuş ve mevcut uygulamada hangi engelli bireylerin hangi koşullarda uzay programlarına dahil olabilecekleri kapsamlı doküman incelemeleri ile netleştirilmiştir.
Social justice is perhaps the most important factor in ensuring social well-being at the socio-economic and political levels adopted in today's world. Social justice is the state's commitment to equal access to welfare services provided by public authorities, and as such, it is an obligation that must be provided to individuals. The first requirement for the success of social policies implemented to ensure a humane life while maintaining a level of welfare is that these policies are built upon a philosophy of social justice. In fact, social justice is the fundamental philosophy of social policy and can be seen as its constitution. At the core of this philosophy of social justice lies the fragility of welfare. If a minimum and humane life cannot be provided to all classes or groups in society, and if anyone is excluded from welfare services, social well-being and peace cannot be achieved. Space programs and research, today's most fundamental areas of investment and development, must also be evaluated from a social justice perspective. While participation in these programs must be guided by the principle of social justice, the space race has not included para-astronauts in its near-ultimate phase. This situation contradicts the concept of a social state and hinders the effective utilization of human capital. A core problem statement and three sub-problem statements were developed within the scope of the study. This clearly demonstrates that the participation of individuals with disabilities in space programs is a necessity from both social justice and other perspectives. Extensive document review clarifies which individuals with disabilities can participate in space programs under which circumstances.
