Donor Care in Intensive Care Unit

Year 2013, Volume: 4 Issue: 3, 136 - 139, 10.12.2013

Abstract

Organ transplantation has been increasing day by day. However, there has been still a huge discrepancy between the numbers of potential organ donor and patients candidate for transplant recipient. Therefore, it is most important to gain organ donor pool. A potential organ donor is defined by the presence of either brain death or a catastrophic injury to the brain. It is mandatory to retrieve organs that offer the greatest likelihood of successful outcomes for the recipients. This strategy necessitates the optimal care of the potential donor, that is, even after brain death has occurred. In this review we present a pathophysiologic approach to the key issues for the clinicians involved in the care of the brain-dead organ donor.

Yoğun Bakım Ünitesinde Donör Bakımı

Year 2013, Volume: 4 Issue: 3, 136 - 139, 10.12.2013
