14-16 Yaş Basketbol Oynayan Genç Sporcuların Tercih Ettikleri Antrenör Davranışları

Year 2021, Volume: 5 Issue: 1, 13 - 21, 28.03.2021

Abstract

Year 2021, Volume: 5 Issue: 1, 13 - 21, 28.03.2021

Abstract

Coach is the leader who has the ability to transfer his/her energy, strength, dynamism, knowledge and social capacity to his/her sportsperson in the most effective and permanent way, he/she is the person who helps to develop the physical, physiological, mental, emotional and social capacities of sportsperson through purposeful behavior and thus who had received special education and training fulfilling the scientific objectives of training. One of the key components of coaching is the ability to teach sports-specific skills. In addition to this skill, the ability to establish and maintain relationships with others also comes to the fore and reinforces the coach's teaching ability. The aim of the study is to determine the coach behaviors that young sportsmen aged 14-16 playing basketball prefer, and to determine the relationship of these approaches with gender and gender preference of coach variables. Screening (descriptive) model was used in the research. A total of 163 young basketball players who had basketball training in Hidayet Türkoğlu, Darüşşafaka and Tofaş Basketball Schools in Ankara during the fall and spring period of 2018-2019, selected according to the purposeful sampling method, constitute the research group. At the end of the research, it observed that young basketball players prefer a coach with good technical knowledge, correcting technical mistakes, acting fairly, training for technical skills and encouraging their development, rather than a praising, award-giving coach.
