Stem rust caused by Puccinia graminis f. sp. tritici is an important disease of wheat in the world. This disease is also common in the Sinop province of Turkey. The pathogen forms new races and these races may overcome the resistance present in wheat cultivars. For sustainable wheat production, identification of the stem races is necessary. During 2016 and 2017, surveys were conducted in wheat-growing areas of Sinop province and from diseased plants, 42 single uredospore pustule isolates were obtained. Using North American differential genotypes stem rust races were identified. The most common race was TTTTF followed by TTKTF, RTTTF, RTKTF, and TTKTC.
