Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to reveal how the Resource Based View (RBV) and Resource Dependence Theory (RDT) are used together. To this end, the study was designed as a systematic literature review on studies in which the two approaches are used together. A total of 97 studies were identified from the Scopus database for review in the study. These studies were analyzed under four categories as "review studies using only RBV and RDT", "empirical studies using only RBV and RDT", "review studies using multiple approaches" and "empirical studies using multiple approaches". The studies within the scope of the review were evaluated in terms of the phenomenon, context, and method of the research (and the theories used for the studies using multiple approaches). In addition, in the conclusion and discussion section, the following determinations were made on the way the approaches were used in the studies: It was seen that the approaches were used to understand other concepts/phenomena outside their explanatory framework. In the studies on other concepts/phenomena, it was determined that the arguments of the approaches are used in a more indirect/auxiliary role in the theoretical parts of the studies rather than being used operationally in the development of hypotheses or propositions related to the phenomena under consideration. In addition, it was concluded that the arguments of the approaches in the studies were used independently/individually to explain the phenomenon under consideration.
