Abstract

The Relationship of Decent Work and Its Sub-Dimensions with Meaning of Work and Turnover Intention: A Meta-Analysis Study

Year 2023, Volume: 4 Issue: Current Issues in Management Research, 1 - 25, 25.10.2023
https://doi.org/10.54733/smar.1345501

Abstract

This study aims at revealing the relationship between the sub-dimensions of decent work and the variables of work meaning and turnover intention via meta-analysis method. The national and international literature on “insana yakışır iş”, “insana yaraşır iş”, “saygın iş”, “düzgün iş”, “uygun iş”, “işin anlamı”, “işten ayrılma niyeti” and their English equivalents have been searched, examined, and compiled using these words. To analyze the data, the Jamovi package program, and MAJOR – Meta Analysis plug-in have been used. 12 meta-analyses based on random effects model on correlation values and sample sizes have been carried out on a total of 24 studies and k=132 individual data (N=46406). According to the analysis findings, it has been found that decent work was found to be positively moderately correlated with meaning of work (EB= 0.490; p<0.001) and negatively moderately correlated with turnover intention (EB= -0.397; p<0.001). It has been determined that the complementary values sub-dimension of decent work has the highest relationship with the meaning of work and turnover intention, corporate values that complement family and social values with a moderate positive and negative relationship respectively (EB= 0.390; EB= -0.340; p<0.001). It has also been found out that free time and rest sub dimension of decent work has the lowest and a weak relationship (EB= 0,147; EB= -0,198; p<0,001) with work meaning and turnover intention.
