Gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST) are the most common mesenchymal tumors of the gastrointestinal system. The most frequently seen localizations are the stomach (50-60%) and the small intestine (20-30%). With the increase of tumor size becomes symptomatic and emergency surgery requirement is increasing. Fifty-two-year-old male patient was admitted with acute abdominal findings. Emergency surgery was performed and 10x9x3 cm diameter mass was resected with clear surgical margins. Histopathological examination revealed that gastrointestinal stromal tumor. We presented this case both case is rarely encountered as well as in order to remind can be need for urgent surgical procedure.
Gastrointestinal stromal tümörler (GİST) gastrointestinal sistemin en yaygın mezenkimal tümörleridir. En sık görülen lokalizasyonlar mide (%50-60) ve ince barsak (%20-30) dır. Tümör boyutunun artışı ile semptomatik hale gelmekte ve acil cerrahi gereksinimi artmaktadır. Elli iki yaşında bir erkek hasta akut batın bulguları ile başvurdu. Acil cerrahi uygulandı ve 10x9x3 cm boyutunda kitle temiz cerrahi sınırlarla rezeke edildi. Histopatolojik incelemesinde gastrointestinal stromal tümör olduğu saptandı. Bu vakayı hem nadir olarak karşılaşılması hem de acil cerrahi müdahele gereksinimi olabileceğini hatırlatmak amacıyla sunduk.
