Evaluation of Hand Hygiene Practices and Use of Protective Equipments of Servants Working in a Training and Research Hospital

Abstract
In this study, we aimed at detecting and reporting the general practices of the subject employees of subcontracted services in Istanbul Training and Research Hospital with regard to use of protective equipments and hand hygiene. This descriptive study has been conducted by addressing a questionnaire of 29 questions through face-to-face interviews to 332 servants. In our study, there was not a difference between gender and level of education of servants regarding proper use of protective equipments (p>0.05). Among respondents trained on infectious diseases and hygiene and personal protective measures, rate of proper use of protective equipments and proper hand hygiene practices have been found higher (p

Abstract
Bu çalışmada, İstanbul Eğitim ve Araştırma Hastanesinde çalışan hizmetlilerin el hijyeni ve koruyucu ekipman kullanımlarını tayin ve rapor etmeyi amaçladık. Tanımlayıcı tipteki bu çalışma İstanbul Eğitim ve Araştırma Hastanesinde çalışan 332 hizmetliyle yüz yüze görüşme şeklinde 29 soruluk bir anket uygulanarak yapılmıştır.Çalışmamızda, koruyucu ekipmanların uygun kullanılmasıyla ilgili olarak hizmetlilerin cinsiyeti ve eğitim düzeyleri arasında farklılık yoktu (p>0.05). Hizmetliler arasında enfeksiyon hastalıkları ve hijyen ve kişisel koruyucu kullanımı konularında eğitim almış olanlarda, uygun koruyucu ekipman kullanımı ve uygun el hijyen uygulamalarının oranının daha yüksek olduğu bulunmuştur (p
