Studies on masculinity and men in the world have been carried out within the framework of psychoanalysis, social role theory and the concept of hegemonic masculinity, and the concept of hegemonic masculinity, which presents a power analysis on gender relations, has been accepted as a theoretical perspective in this study. Although the concept of hegemonic masculinity is a theoretical concept discussed in the literature, these criticisms have been mentioned within the scope of the study and the idea that the concept is still valid has been adopted, so the findings of the study have been discussed about the relationship between hegemonic masculinity and other masculinities. In this article, research questions were determined as “What are the masculinity perceptions of male undergraduate students at Nuh Naci Yazgan University and how they are shaped?” and with this study the aim is to contribute to masculunity studies which have been developed since 2000 in Turkey. In order to answer these questions interviews were conducted with 10 male undergraduate students and the findings were discussed in terms of hegemonic masculunity, complicit,marginalized, protest and subordinated masculinities. The study sample which is composed of undergraduate male students who study in the Central Anatolian city and the foundation university is the original aspects of the study.
Dünya’da erkeklik ve erkeklere dair çalışmalar psikanaliz, toplumsal rol teorisi ve hegemonik erkeklik kavramı çerçevesinde yürütülmüş olup, toplumsal cinsiyet ilişkilerine dair iktidar analizi sunan hegemonik erkeklik kavramı çalışmada kuramsal perspektif olarak kabul edilmiştir. Hegemonik erkeklik kavramı literatürde tartışılan bir teorik kavramsallaştırma olmakla birlikte çalışma kapsamında bu eleştirilerden bahsedilmiş olup kavramın hala geçerliliğini koruduğu fikri benimsenmiş bu sebeple çalışmanın bulguları hegemonik erkekliğin diğer erkekliklerle ilişkisi üzerinden tartışılmıştır. Bu makalede, Nuh Naci Yazgan Üniversitesi’ndeki lisans eğitimi gören erkek öğrencilerin erkeklik algılarının ne olduğu ve nasıl şekillendiği araştırma soruları olarak belirlenmiş, bu çalışma ile Türkiye’de 2000 sonrası dönemde gelişim gösteren erkeklik çalışmaları alanına katkı sunmak amaçlanmıştır. Bu soruları cevaplamak adına lisans eğitimi görmekte olan on erkek öğrenci ile mülakatlar gerçekleştirilmiş, bulgular hegemonik erkeklik, işbirlikçi, marjinalleştirilmiş, muhalif ve tabi kılınmış erkeklik kavramları ekseninde tartışılmıştır. Araştırma örnekleminin İç Anadolu kentinde, vakıf üniversitesinde lisans eğitimi gören erkek öğrencilerden oluşturulması ise çalışmanın özgün yönüdür.
