Posthüman Yazında Müzik İmgesi: Maurice G. Dantec Örneği

Abstract

İmgelemin Antropolojik Yapıları adlı yapıtında imgeleri toplumsal işlevlerine göre sınıflandıran Gilbert Durand’a göre insan, zamanın akışından ve buna bağlı olarak gelişen ölüm düşüncesinden korkar; bu korkusunu ise yarattığı imgeler yoluyla örtmeye çalışır. Durand’a göre müzik bir imge olarak ele alındığında ritmik olması, tekrarlı kalıplar üzerinden ilerlemesi ve farklı sesleri zaman düzleminde bir araya getirmesi açısından “zamanı kontrol altına alma” yöntemi olarak görülebilir. Bu açıdan bakıldığında müzik imgesinin gelecek öngörüleri, fütürist evrenleri, ya da gelişmiş ve değişmiş varlıkları ele alan yazınsal kurgu türlerinde kendine geniş yer bulması oldukça anlamlıdır. Özellikle günümüzde hızlanan teknolojik gelişmelerle insan algısı ve tanımı değişmiştir; kırılgan koşuluna çözüm bulmaya çalışan insan, teknolojiyi kendine yoldaş alarak bu koşulunu aşmaya ve “ölümsüz” olmaya kendini adamış, bu refleksi ise kurguda geniş yer bulmuştur. “Posthüman” kavramı insanın bu yeni koşulunu, “posthüman yazın” kavramı ise bu yeni insanın yazınsal düzlemde izleksel ve biçimsel olarak bulduğu karşılıkları ifade eder. Posthüman kavramı ile yaygın olarak bilimkurgu ve spekülatif kurgu türlerinde karşılaşılır. Bu çerçevede bu çalışmada Fransız bilimkurgu yazarı Maurice G. Dantec’in Les racines du mal (tr. Kötülüğün Kökleri), Babylon Babies (tr. Babil Bebekleri) ve Grande Jonction (tr. Büyük Buluşma) başlıklı romanlarında müzik imgesine değinilecek, müziğin bilimkurgu düzleminde ve posthüman roman söyleminde kullanım biçimleri sınıflandırılarak bu kullanımların anlamları üzerinde durulacaktır.

The Image of Music in Posthuman Literature: The Case of Maurice G. Dantec

Abstract

According to Gilbert Durand, who classifies images according to their social functions in his work entitled The Anthropological Structures of the Imaginary, man fears the flow of time and the thought of death that develops accordingly; he tries to cover this fear through the images he creates. Music, as an image, can be considered as a method of "controlling time" in terms of being rhythmic, progressing through repetitive patterns and bringing different sounds together on the time axis. It is quite meaningful that the image of music finds a wide place in literary fiction genres dealing with future predictions. Especially today, the definition of the human being concept has changed with the accelerating technological developments; the human being, trying to find a solution to his fragile condition, has devoted himself to overcoming this condition and becoming "immortal" by taking technology as a companion, and this reflex has found a wide place in fiction. The concept of "posthuman" refers to this new condition of the human, and the concept of "posthuman literature" refers to the reflections of this new human being. The concept of posthuman is commonly encountered in science fiction and speculative fiction genres. This study will focus on the image of music in Maurice G. Dantec's novels Les racines du mal (eng. The Roots of Evil), Babylon Babies (eng. Babylon Babies) and Grande Jonction (eng. Grand Junction), classify the ways in which music is used in the discourse of posthuman fiction, and emphasize the meanings of these uses.
