Aim: In this study, the opinions of students on distance education, which started to be given in the quarantine period, were investigated, since the coronavirus distanced students from face-to-face education.
Method: Case Study Pattern, one of the qualitative research methods, was used in the research. The data were collected virtually by interview method. The group of the research consists of 32 students, 13 of whom are women and 19 of them are selected by the purposeful sampling method studying at the School of Physical Education and Sports of Mustafa Kemal University. Descriptive and content analysis method was used to analyze the data. Data summarized and interpreted through descriptive analysis, coded themes and sub-themes were created.
Findings: As a result of the analyzes, students made different definitions and analogies for distance education. For most students, distance education is a comfortable and convenient system in computer and internet environment. Participants believe that the majority of their views on the processes and outcomes of distance education are inefficient. It is a positive response that it can be monitored regardless of time and place. There are also students who cannot continue regularly due to various problems. Participants stated that they are inefficient for practice lessons, efficient for theoretical lessons and that they are not very happy about this situation in terms of lack of mutual communication.
Conclusıon: It was noticed that factors such as the students' not having the opportunity to ask questions, and some technical problems in the lessons caused negative reactions. In order to develop a positive response towards distance education; It is recommended to design courses in online (live) environment and to design distance education environments where teachers and students can communicate outside the classroom and technical problems are minimized.
