<p>Knidos, located at the confluence of the Aegean and Mediterranean Seas, has always been a prominent harbor city due to its geography. Knidos was not only renowned for its sculptures but also for its ceramic production. The city’s lamps, amphorae, relief-decorated vessels, and finely crafted local wares became well-known and widespread globally. Knidian ceramics, which were influential in foreign markets, reached their peak during the Hellenistic and Roman periods. However, with the advent of Late Antiquity, the rising costs of ceramic production, the consequent economic decline, and external factors led to a disruption in the city&#039;s former production capacity. As a result of these factors, Knidos focused on producing for the domestic market during Late Antiquity, favoring more functional forms to meet local needs. During this period, it was more economically viable for the city to import high-cost vessels, with red slip ware being the most imported category. This study evaluates the African Red Slip ware, which was among the most commonly imported red slip ceramics in Knidos. Sixty-five examples were analyzed in terms of slip-surface characteristics, fabric compositions, and firing techniques. The dating of the examples was based on their form groups and comparisons with similar specimens, although the contexts of Late Antique structures in Knidos were prioritized for dating purposes. This study, which assesses the context materials, aims to provide information about the production quality, form distribution, and local or regional interactions of African Red Slip ware.</p></trans-abstract>
