Zeugma, located within the borders of Gaziantep, was in the most strategic position of the ancient period and at the intersection of ancient roads. It was in a dominant position on the banks of the Euphrates River, which provided passage between the regions of Syria, Cilicia, Commagene and Oshrohoene. Within the scope of the study, four different types of lamps, terra-cotta figurines with different soil colors and soil/clay samples obtained during the excavations in the city were examined archaeometrically using various analytical methods. After the samples were photographed and coded, their dough colors and thicknesses were determined. Within the scope of the archaeometric studies, the petrographic properties of the samples were examined with thin-section optical microscope analysis and their chemical properties were examined with PED-XRF analysis.
</trans-abstract>
