Bu çalışma Niğde şehrindeki sosyal tabakalar ve bunların toplum içindeki rollerini ihtiva etmektedir.Şehirde yaşayanları esas itibariyle yöneticiler, ilim adamları, tüccarlar ve sanatkârlarşeklinde yukarıdan aşağıya doğru sıralamak mümkündür. Yöneticiler şehrin güvenliğindensorumlu olan görevlilerden oluşmaktaydı. Kadı, müftü ve müderris gibi resmi görevliler ilecami personeli ve şeyhlerden oluşan ilim ve din adamlarının görevi ise halkı eğitmek, aydınlatmakve yönlendirmekti. Tüccarların da önemli bir grup oldukları bilinmekte ise de, ticaretehli hakkında yeterli bilgi yoktur. Halkın çoğunluğunu teşkil eden esnaf ve sanatkârlar ise sonsırada yer almışlardı ve temel görevleri üretim yapmaktı.
This paper gives information about social classes in Nigde city and their roles in the community. These classes can be listed to be governors, nobles, merchants and artists. Governors were responsible for the security of the town. The nobles, consisting of the officers such as Kadi, müftü and müderris, and officers in the mosque as well as noble and religious men, were to educate, enlighten and guide the public. At that time the merchants were also an important class in the communityi but their role and importance were not much known. Guilds and artists were also an important class in the community at the bottom in line and their basic duties were to help the production.
