Mimar Sinan, who served as a head architect for half a century in the 16th century Otoman Empire, was renowned as the greatest architect ever in Turkish architecture with his many works in wide Ottoman land and and his concept of design seen in these works. Among the important architectural elements that allow pass from yard or street to enclosed space in these works are undoubtedly portals. Portals, the most important elements of shaping mass, continued the traces of tradition with their rectangular body, design features and decoration elements.
Portals, which shadow out the Early Ottoman period on a large scale in respect of material, design and technical qualities, are no longer elements that can be conceived from a distance concerning their location. Besides that, they are stil in forefront among the northern front elements as regards monumentality
