TAHKİK aims to publish original academic works in the field of religious, social, and humanities research and to share them with the public. The primary research area of our journal is religious studies, particularly theology and Islamic sciences. Research and publications in the fundamental areas of theology, consisting of Basic Islamic Sciences, Philosophy and Religious Sciences, and Islamic History and Arts, fall within this field. TAHKİK may publish articles in the above fields, primarily including critical editions and reviews, as well as transcriptions into the Latin alphabet, simplifications, and translations. In addition, critical editions of treatises in Arabic, Ottoman Turkish, and Persian, primarily in Islamic sciences, may be published.
TAHKİK is an international, peer-reviewed, open-access journal published twice a year in June and December. It focuses on publications in the field of theology and religious studies within the social and human sciences, and it is also thematic. This theme is the preparation of a manuscript for publication through critical edition (edition critique). More specifically, it involves striving to reach the form in which the manuscript was originally written by the author, based on the existing single copy or copies, and preparing it for publication. Research articles on manuscripts (mahtûtât), including research, cataloguing, library and literature reviews, also fall under this theme.
