Propranolol ile Tedavi Edilen İnfantil Hemanjiyom: Bir Olgu Sunumu

Year 2015, Volume: 9 Issue: 4, 276 - 279, 01.12.2015

Abstract

Infantile Hemangioma Treated with Propranolol: A Case Report

Year 2015, Volume: 9 Issue: 4, 276 - 279, 01.12.2015

Abstract

Hemangiomas are the most common benign tumors in childhood. Hemangiomas are a typical example of a vascular tumor associated with the proliferation of vascular endothelial cells. The infantile type may be present at birth but sometimes develops a few weeks after birth and grows faster in the first 4-6 months. Treatment is not recommended for infantile hemanjiomas that do not cause problems such as bleeding, infections and cosmetic problems. There is no standard treatment protocol for hemangiomas in the literature. Propranolol causes contraction at the hemangioma with capillary vasoconstriction, increased apoptosis in endothelial cells, and decreased vascular endothelial growth factor mechanisms. It may be preferred because of ease of use, lack of side effects, economic reasons and early response to treatment and used safely in the treatment of hemangiomas. Here, we present a case of hemangioma treated by propranolol
