İlkokul Öğrencilerinde Öz Güveni Destekleme Çalışması: Bir Eylem Araştırması

Abstract

Okul temelli çalışmalar okulun mevcut bir ya da daha fazla problemine odaklanırken, bir yandan da okulun sorun çözme kapasitesini geliştirmeyi hedefler. Bu araştırmada Ankara’da bir okulun yönetici ve öğretmenlerinin sorun olarak nitelendirdikleri bir olgu olarak öz güven konusu çalışılmıştır. Bu çalışmada ilkokul öğrencileri ile öz güveni destekleyen aktiviteler yapılarak, bu aktivitelerin öğrencilerde oluşturduğu değişimlerin değerlendirilmesi amaçlanmıştır. Araştırma nitel araştırma türünde desenlenen bir eylem araştırmasıdır. Araştırmada açık uçlu soru formu, yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formu ile yapılandırılmış ve yapılandırılmamış gözlem formları ile veri toplanmıştır. Bu araştırmanın çalışma alanını, Milli Eğitim Bakanlığına bağlı bir ilkokulda öğrenim gören öğrenciler oluşturmaktadır. Çalışmaya 2022-2023 öğretim yılı birinci döneminde üçüncü sınfta öğrenim gören 173 öğrenci katılmıştır. Çalışmada örneklem alınmamış, okuldaki tüm üçüncü sınıflar çalışmaya dahil edilmiştir. Araştırma sonucunda bir eğitim öğretim döneminde yapılan ilave etkinlikler ile öğrencilerin ifade becerisi, iletişim, paylaşımcı olma, duygularını ifade etme gibi öz güvenin de göstergesi olan bazı davranışlarında olumlu yönde değişimler öğretmenleri tarafından gözlemlenmiştir. Elde edilen bulgular doğrultusunda gelecek araştırmalar için öneriler sunulmuştur.

Supporting Self-Confidence in Primary School Students: An Action Research

Abstract

The school-based studies focus on one or more existing problems of the school, while aiming to improve the problem-solving capacity of the school. In this study, self-confidence topic was studied as a phenomenon that administrators and teachers of a school in Ankara identified as a problem. In this study, it was aimed to carry out activities that support self-confidence with primary school students and to evaluate the changes created by these activities in students. The research is an action research designed in qualitative research type. Data were collected through an open-ended question form, a semi-structured interview form, and structured and unstructured observation forms. The study sample of this research consists of students at a Primary School affiliated to the Ministry of National Education. 173 students in the third grade in the first semester of the 2022-2023 school year participated in the study. No sample was taken in the study and all third graders in the school were included in the study. As a result of the research, it was observed by teachers that with the additional activities carried out in an education period, changes seen in some behaviours of students such as expression skills, communication, sharing, and expressing their feelings, which are also indicators of self-confidence. In line with the findings obtained, suggestions for future research are presented.
