This study analyzes the causes of Russia's intervention in Syria from the perspective of neorealism. According to the research, the involvement of Russia in the Syrian war has been shaped by the framework of the neorealist paradigm. The study found that Russia has significant strategic and economic interests in Syria. In this context, Assad's overthrow could threaten Russia's position in the international system. In this respect, the experience gained in the Libyan crisis, the Tartus Naval Facility, control of energy sources, arms trade, preventing US domination in the region, and preventing terrorist acts from reaching their territory, are listed as Russian intervention reasons.
Bu çalışma Rusya’nın Suriye’ye müdahalesinin nedenlerini neorealizm perspektifinden analiz etmektedir. Çalışmaya göre Rusya’nın Suriye savaşına müdahil olması neorealist paradigma çerçevesinde şekillenmiştir. Çalışmada, Rusya’nın Suriye’de önemli stratejik ve ekonomik çıkarları olduğu ve bu bağlamda Esad’ın devrilmesinin Rusya’nın uluslararası sistemdeki konumu açısından bir tehdit oluşturabileceği saptanmıştır. Bu doğrultuda, Libya krizinde edinilen tecrübe, Tartus Deniz Üssü, enerji kaynaklarının kontrolü, silah ticareti, bölgede ABD hakimiyetini engellemek ve terör eylemlerinin kendi topraklarına ulaşmasına mâni olmak Rusya’nın müdahale nedenleri olarak sıralanmıştır.
