Cinsel Sağlık:Hemşirelik Öğrencilerinin Bakış Açıları, İnanç ve Tutumları

Abstract

Amaç: Cinsel sağlığın değerlendirilebilmesi ve holistik/bütüncül bir yaklaşımla bakım verilebilmesi için, öğrencilerin hemşirelik sürecini etkileyecek olan inanç ve tutumlarını bilmek ve eğitim programlarını buna göre şekillendirmek oldukça önemlidir. Bu çalışmada hemşirelik öğrencilerinin hastaların cinsel sağlık bakımına ilişkin tutum ve inançlarını belirlemek amaçlanmıştır.
Gereç ve Yöntem: Bu çalışma 2019-2020 eğitim-öğretim yılında Ankara’dabir vakıf üniversitesinin hemşirelik bölümü birinci sınıfta (52 kişi) ve dördüncü sınıfta (54 kişi) öğrenim gören 105 öğrenci ile yapılmıştır. Tanımlayıcı tipteki araştırmanın verileri, anket formu ve cinsel tutum ve inançlar ölçeği kullanılarak toplanmıştır. Veri toplama formlarını öğrencilerin kendileri doldurmuşlardır.
Bulgular: Çalışmaya katılan öğrencilerin, cinsel tutum ve inançlar ölçeği puan ortalamaları 32.94±6.86’dır. Çalışmaya katılan öğrencilerin cinsiyetleri ile cinsel tutum ve inançlar ölçeği toplam puan ortalaması arasında anlamlı bir ilişki olduğu ve kız öğrencilerin cinsel inanç ve tutumlarının erkek öğrencilere göre daha olumlu olduğu belirlenmiştir (p<0.05). Öğrencilerin cinsel tutum ve inançlar ölçeğine ait maddelerinin puan ortalamaları ise minimum 1.72±1.12 ve maksimum 3.34±1,66 arasında değişim göstermektedir. Ölçek maddelerindeki ifadelerden “Cinsellik hastalarla tartışmak için çok özel bir konu” ifadesi (3.34±1.66) ve “Hastalarım bana cinsellikle ilgili soru sorduklarında, onlara bu konuyu doktorlarıyla konuşmalarını öneririm” ifadesi (3.34±1.66) en yüksek puanı almıştır.
Sonuç: Hemşirelik bölümünde öğrenim gören öğrencilerin, hastaların cinsel bakımına ilişkin inanç ve tutum ölçeğine göre ortalama bir tutuma sahip olduğu belirlenmiştir.

Sexual Health: Nursing Students’ Perspectives, Attitudes And Beliefs

Abstract

Aim: In order to evaluate sexual health and care with a holistic approach, it is very important to know the beliefs and attitudes that will affect the nursing process and to shape the education programs accordingly. In this study, it was aimed to determine the attitudes and beliefs of nursing students regarding sexual health care of patients.
Material and Methods:This study was carried out with 105 students studying in the 1st grade (52 persons) and 4th grade (54 persons) of the nursing department of a foundation university of Ankara in the 2019-2020 academic year. The data were collected using the questionnaire form and the sexual attitudes and beliefs scale. The students filled in the data collection forms themselves.
Results: The mean score of sexual attitudes and beliefs scale for the students participating in the study is 32.94±6.86. It was determined that there is a significant difference between the gender of the students participating in the study and the sexual attitudes and beliefs scale total score average and it has been determined that female students' sexual beliefs and attitudes are more positive than male students (p<0.05). The mean sexual attitudes and beliefs scale items scores of the students varies between minimum 1.72±1.12 and maximum 3.34±1.66. The statements in the scale items "Sexuality is a very special subject to discuss with patients" (3.34±1.66) and "When my patients ask me about sexuality, I recommend them to talk about this with their doctors" (3.34±1.66) got the highest score.
Conclusion: It has been determined that students studying in the nursing department have an average belief and attitude towards providing sexual health care to patients.
