Objective: This paper aims to evaluate the double burden of malnutrition defined as the coexistence of undernutrition and overweight/obesity among children and adolescents in Türkiye using recent national and international evidence. Methods: A descriptive assessment was conducted by synthesizing data from UNICEF’s The State of the World’s Children 2025: Statistical Compendium and findings from population-based epidemiological studies conducted in Türkiye. Results: Although under-five mortality and immunization indicators have substantially improved in Türkiye, undernutrition indicators such as stunting, low birthweight, and wasting persist. At the same time, the prevalence of overweight and obesity has increased, particularly in older children and adolescents. National studies demonstrate that undernutrition and obesity may coexist at both household and individual levels, often accompanied by micronutrient deficiencies. Conclusions: Nutrition monitoring and intervention strategies for children and adolescents in Türkiye should move beyond single-axis approaches. A life-course framework that simultaneously addresses undernutrition, hidden hunger, and excess weight is essential to effectively respond to the evolving nutritional profile.
