The Salvia genus is a taxa of aromatic plants and the members of the taxa are rich in essential oils. The Salvia species are distributed in several parts of the world as well as in Turkey and are locally known as "Sage". In this study, essential oil composition of two of Salvia species, S. virgata and S. candidissima subsp. candidissima naturally found in Tokat province was evaluated. The essential oils were obtained by hydrodistillation and the essential compounds of oils were determined by GC/MS (Perkin Elmer Clarus 500 apparatus) analyses. According to the GC/MS results, the main components of essential oils of S. virgata and Salvia candidissima subsp. candidisima were specified as isocaryophyllene (13.22–38.21%), α-amorphene (4.03–25.61%), caryophyllene oxide (6.94–24.82%), copaene (0.42–22.07%), estregole (0.98–22.01%); estrogole (64.55%), caryophyllene oxide (13.97%) and isocaryophyllene (%7.42), respectively
