EVALUATION OF COMPONENTS REGARDING THE PERCEPTION OF SPACE IN PEDIATRIC PATIENT ROOM DESIGN OVER THE WORLDABSTRACT Hospitals are the very institutions that deal with health issues and create solutions in one's life after birth. Children make up a sizable group receiving health services, as is evident from the health complexes built in their name after the 19th century. The physical layout and spatial arrangement of pediatric hospitals have become more significant as a result of this circumstance. It has been observed that the negative effects and experiences associated with childhood illnesses have an impact on children's quality of life, which, in turn, shapes their personality, behavior, sense of shame, and moral judgments as adults. Therefore, providing designs that will support patients' physical, cognitive, and psychosocial needs and promote their well-being has become essential rather than optional. This research serves as the initial phase of a doctoral study that is currently being conducted at the Department of Architecture, Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, KTO University. Within the parameters of the study, an assessment was made of the design elements that influence how patients perceive their surroundings in pediatric hospitals across the globe and our own country. By using the morphological card technique to examine the patient rooms, spatial readings were made on the design elements that influence spatial perception. The information gathered is anticipated to help determine the frequency of preference for the color, light, texture, form, and size to be used in the design of the pediatric patient room and will serve as a guide for future application examples.Keywords: Child, Design Components, Pediatric Hospital, Perception in Space, Sick Room.
DÜNYA ÜZERİNDEKİ PEDİATRİK HASTA ODASI TASARIMINLARINDA MEKAN ALGISINA BAĞLI BİLEŞENLERİN DEĞERLENDİRİLMESİ ÖZ Hastane yapıları, insanların hayata başladıktan sonra sağlık sorunları ile ilgilenen ve çözümler üreten kuruluşlardır. 19. yy’den sonra çocuklar adına kurulan sağlık komplekslerinden anlaşılacağı üzere çocuklar, sağlık hizmetinden faydalan kalabalık bir grubu oluşturmaktadır. Bu durum pediatrik hastanelerin fiziksel yapısı ve mekân kurgusunun önem kazanmasını sağlamıştır. Çocukluk çağında yaşanan hastalıklara bağlı yan etkilerin ve yaşanan deneyimlerin süreç içerisinde çocukların yaşam kalitelerini etkilediği ve dolayısıyla yetişkinlikte kişilik yapısı, davranış, utanç ve değer yargılarını şekillendirdiği görülmektedir. Buna göre hastane yapılarında hastaların fiziksel, bilişsel ve psikososyal ihtiyaçlarına katkı sağlayacak ve iyi olma halini destekleyecek tasarımlar sunmak ihtiyaçtan ziyade zorunluluk haline gelmiştir. Bu çalışma KTO Üniversitesi, Güzel Sanatlar ve Tasarım Fakültesi Mimarlık Anabilim Dalı doktora programında devam eden doktora çalışmasının ön araştırması niteliğindedir. Bu bağlamda çalışma kapsamında; Dünyada ve ülkemizde yer alan pediatrik hastanelerin, hasta odalarında mekânsal algıyı etkileyen tasarım bileşenleri üzerine bir değerlendirme yapılmıştır. Hasta odaları morfolojik kart tekniği ile incelenerek mekânsal algıyı etkileyen tasarım bileşenlerine dair mekânsal okumalar yapılmıştır. Elde edilen bilgilerle çocuk hasta odalası tasarımıda kullanılacak renk, ışık, doku, form ve boyuta ilişkin tercih sıklıkları belirlenerek gelecekte yapılacak olan uygulama örneklerine yol gösterici nitelikte olacağı düşünülmektedir.Anahtar; Çocuk, Hasta Odası, Mekanda Algı, Pediatrik Hastane, Tasarım Bileşenleri.
