Bu araştırmanın amacı Beden Eğitimi ve Spor öğretmen adaylarının öğretmenlik mesleğine karşı olan yaklaşımlarının belirlenmesidir. Araştırmada karma yöntem araştırması desenlerinden açımlayıcı sıralı desen tercih edilmiştir. Araştırmanın nicel aşamasında tarama deseni, nitel aşamasında ise olgubilim deseni kullanılmıştır. Araştırmaya maksimum çeşitlilik örneklem yöntemi uyarınca ulaşılan İstanbul İli içerisinde eğitim görmekte olan öğretmen adayları katılım sağlamıştır. Katılımcılardan elde edilen nicel veriler SPSS paket programı vasıtasıyla analiz edilmiştir. Nicel veri analizi sonrası, aykırı örneklem yöntemi kullanılarak belirlenen uç değerlere sahip katılımcılarla odak grup görüşmesi gerçekleştirilmiştir. Elde edilen nitel verilerin çözümlenmesinde MAXQDA analiz programı aracılığıyla içerik analizi gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırma sonucunda elde edilen nicel verilere göre, öğretmenlik mesleği tutumları üzerinde cinsiyet değişkeninde kadın öğretmen adaylarının lehine ve sınıf düzeyi değişkeninde ise 1.sınıf düzeyinde olan öğretmen adaylarının lehine anlamlı bir farklılık bulunmuştur. Her iki anlamlı farklılığın küçük düzeyde etkiye sahip olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Sporculuk kariyeri, okul dışında çalışma durumu ve yaş değişkenlerinin öğretmen adaylarının mesleki tutumları üzerinde anlamlı bir etkisi olmadığı görülmüştür. Yapılan görüşme sonucunda, öğretmen adaylarının kişisel ilgileri temelinde ve eğitim hayatlarında karşılaştıkları öğretmenlerinin etkisi ile mesleki tercihlerini yaptıkları görülmüştür. Diğer taraftan mesleki itibar eksikliği, gelir düşüklüğü ve formasyon sertifika eğitimi beden eğitimi ve spor öğretmenliği mesleği önündeki zorluklar olarak belirtilmiştir. Bu zorluklara rağmen öğretmen adayları arasında mesleğin geleceğinin iyi bir konum elde edeceği inancı da mevcuttur.
This research aims to determine the approaches of Physical Education and Sports teacher candidates towards the teaching profession. Exploratory sequential design, one of the mixed methods research designs, was preferred in the research. Survey design was used in the quantitative phase of the research, and phenomenology pattern was used in the qualitative phase. Teacher candidates studying in Istanbul Province, who were reached by the maximum diversity sampling method, participated in the research. Quantitative data obtained from the participants were analyzed through the SPSS package program. After the quantitative data analysis, a focus group interview was held with participants with extreme values determined using the outlier sampling method. Content analysis was carried out through the MAXQDA analysis program to analyze the qualitative data obtained. According to the quantitative data obtained as a result of the research, a significant difference was found in the attitudes of the teaching profession in favor of female teacher candidates in the gender variable and favor of first-year teacher candidates in the grade level variable. It was determined that both significant differences had a small effect. It was observed that the variables of athletic career, working outside of school, and age did not have a significant effect on the professional attitudes of teacher candidates. As a result of the interviews, it was seen that teacher candidates made their professional choices based on their personal interests and the influence of the teachers they encountered in their educational lives. On the other hand, lack of professional reputation, low income, and formation certificate training are stated as difficulties for the physical education and sports teaching profession. Despite these difficulties, there is a belief among teacher candidates that the future of the profession will be good.
