Reversible Bronchiectasis Following Foreign Body Aspiration

Abstract

Bronchiectasis is defined as abnormal and irreversible dilatation of subsegmental airways. Psedobronchiectasis is reversible bronchial dilatation that develops after pneumonia and resolves after a few weeks or months of improvement of acute infection. It is generally cylindrical. We reported a nine-year-old girl in whom bronchiectasis of left lower lobe due to foreign body aspiration. The bronchiectasis developed in three weeks after aspiration of foreign body, and resolved completely after extraction of foreign body and medical therapy. Abstract

Bronşektazi subsegmental hava yollarının anormal ve kalıcı dilatasyonu olarak tanımlanmaktadır. Yalancı bronşektazi ise pnömoni sonrası gelişen, akut enfeksiyonun iyileşmesinden birkaç hafta veya ay sonra düzelen geçici bronş dilatasyonudur. Genellikle silindirik tipte olur. Bu çalışmada, yabancı cisim aspirasyonunu takiben sol alt lobda bronşektazik değişiklikler gelişmiş dokuz yaşında bir pediatrik hasta sunuldu. Bronşektazi yabancı cisim aspirasyonundan üç hafta sonra gelişmişti ve yabancı cismin çıkartılmasından sonra medikal tedavi ile tamamen düzeldi.
