<p>This study aims to examine the relationship between childhood trauma and undergraduate students’ attitudes toward the social work department. A total of 486 undergraduate students enrolled in formal social work programs in Türkiye participated in the study. The research was conducted using a relational survey model within a cross-sectional design. Data were collected using the Childhood Trauma Questionnaire (CTQ-33) and the Attitude Toward Social Work Department Scale (SHBYTÖ), and analyzed using descriptive statistics, group comparisons, correlation, and regression analyses. The findings revealed that the mean total CTQ score was 43.26±9.67, with the highest subscale score observed in emotional neglect. The mean SHBYTÖ score was 25.48±3.37, indicating a generally positive attitude toward the department. A negative, weak, but statistically significant relationship was found between CTQ and SHBYTÖ scores (r = –.15, p &amp;lt; .01). Regression analysis showed that childhood trauma levels explained a small proportion of the variance in attitudes toward the department (R² = .022). These findings suggest that childhood trauma has a limited effect on attitudes toward the department. However, students who reported that a traumatic experience influenced their choice of major had higher attitude scores, indicating that such experiences may be associated with professional orientation and the meaning attributed to the field. Overall, the findings underscore the importance of trauma-informed pedagogical approaches and the integration of self-care–oriented support mechanisms within social work education.</p></trans-abstract>
