Initially published as "Marmara Journal of Communication" since 1992, this journal continued its publication activities as "Turkish Review of Communication Studies" from 2018 onwards. It is a peer-reviewed academic journal and published by the Marmara University Faculty of Communication biannually in December and June. Articles and reviews (book, academic event, etc.) in Turkish and English are accepted. Turkish Review of Communication Studies is open to all academic works focusing on media and communication studies.

Open Access Policy
 
This journal is open access. Turkish Review of Communication Studies does not require any charges at any stage of the publishing process; user registration, submitting a paper, peer-reviewing or publication after the evaluation.
 
Open Access is "[refereed scientific literature] that can be freely accessed, read, downloaded, copied, distributed, printed, scanned and linked to the full text, indexed, used as data for software and available for any legal purpose without financial, legal and technical limitations via the Internet". The sole restriction on replication and distribution and the sole copyright role in this field; should be given to the authors in order to be able to have control over the integrity of their own work, to be properly acknowledged and cited.

Turkish Review of Communication Studies operates under the Creative Commons Licence CC-BY-NC-ND.

 
Blind Referee Process
1. The journal covers scientific and original works that examine issues or problems related to Communication Sciences. It is expected that the papers should be written with scientific concerns, to contribute to the field, to refer to the primary sources in the field, not to be written with prejudice, not to include slogans, and to have a decent language. In addition, it is expected to have one of these attributes: being a survey, research, or a developed presentation.
2. The peer-review process will not be started for papers that don't fit referencing guidelines or don't have an abstract or preface.
3. All manuscripts sent to the journal are checked through iThenticate. If the similarity ratio is more than 30 percent, the peer review process will not be initiated.
4. In the evaluation process of the manuscripts, first of all, the referees and the authors should not be from the same institution. The names of the referees and the authors are meticulously stored and are not visible to one another in any way. The referee board varies in each issue and is formed according to the theme of the issue. Interdisciplinary papers will be assigned to referees according to the related fields.
5. In the first step, two referees will be appointed according to the field of the paper. If one of the referee reports is "Cannot be Published" and the other is "Can be Published After Revision" or ”Can be Published" then the third referee is appointed from the related field and his report is demanded. If the 3rd referee's report is "Cannot be Published" then the paper will not be published and the author will be informed.
