1) PAGE LAYOUT

Articles should be in A4 format with 3cm from left, upper and lower edges; 2,5 cm from right edge. Papers should be submitted in Microsoft Word format.

2) ARTICLE LENGHT

Articles should be between 6000 and 12.000 words in length. This includes all text including headlines, abstracts, tables, figures, references and appendices.

3. AUTHOR/ARTICLE DETAILS (ARTICLE TITLE PAGE) 

Author’s details should be placed in the first page (Article Title Page) of the article. It is highly important to exclude any author’s details in other pages of the article. In article title page (first page) Turkish and English titles of the article (14 font size in upper case) should be placed and each authors’ names and information should be given right below the titles. Author’s information must include titles, names and surnames, institutions, e-mails and Orcid IDs  (for Orcid ID, please visit www.orcid.org). (Author’s information should be in 12-point type (bold) and centered). At the end of this page, corresponding author’s phone number should be added. Please, visit Sample Article Page/Template for further information.

4) STRUCTURED ARTICLE

Articles to be submitted to Journal of Tour Guiding should supply both Structured Abstract in Turkish and Structured Abstract in English. The minimum number of keywords is 3 and maximum is 6. Abstracts must be structured according to the rules given below. (* marked parts show the mandatory parts in structured abstracts).

*Aim and Importance of the Study (Mandatory): In this part, authors should indicate aim and importance of the study in brief. It is important not to excess 200 word for this part.

*Methodology (Mandatory): The method used in the study (e.g. population, sample, data collection, data analysis methods) must be clearly indicated. It is important not to excess 200 word for this part.

* Findings (Mandatory): Findings of the study must be included in short in this part. It is important not to excess 300 word for this part.

*Originality/ Value (Mandatory): What are the “unique characteristics/differences” of the study? Evaluations of authors in accordance with findings of study and scientific contributions of the study should be detailed in this part. It is important not to excess 200 word for this part.

Limitations of the Study (if applicable): Limitations of the study must be indicated in this part. (Maximum 200 words).

Implications (if applicable): Authors recommendations related to the practical implications of the study must be indicated in this part. (Maximum 200 words).

Keywords (Mandatory): It is necessary to add minimum 3, maximum 6 keywords in abstracts.

5) HEADINGS

Turkish and English title of the manuscript must be placed in both article title page (first page) and in the second page (which is the first page of the main article dossier apart from article title page) structured in 12-point type in bold format and only the first letters must be capsize of each word and centered. Just below the titles, authors must add structured abstracts both in Turkish and English respectively. Turkish title; must be placed above Turkish structured abstract and English title should be placed above English structured abstract.

Subject headings must be in Times New Roman, 12-point type in bold format, left justified, before 6pt after 6pt and 1.5-line space. Please, do not use indents for headings, they should be left justified.

All headings except abstract, introduction and references should be numbered (e.g. Introduction, 1. Tour Guide Education in the World 2. Tour Guide Education in Turkey, 3. Methodology, 4. Findings, 5. Results, Discussion and Recommendation, References..).

1^st Level Headings, Times New Roman, 12-point type, bold, left justified, only the first letter of each word is capsized; no indents.

2^nd Level Headings, Times New Roman, 12-point type, bold, left justified and numbered as 1.1, 1.2. Only the first letters of each word is capsized; no indents.

3^rd Level Headings should be numbered, Times New Roman, 12-point type, bold, left justified and italic ( 1.1.1. ; 1.2.1. etc.). Only the first letter of each word is capsized; no indents.

Note: Headings used in structured abstracts should be left justified, 12-point type, bold and only the first letter of each word should be capsized.

6) MAIN TEXT

Authors should use Times New Roman, 12-point type, 1.5-line space in main text. Except paragraphs, authors should not use “enter”. For spacing, all lines must be before 6pt, after 6pt. Indents must be arranged for 1 cm and all text must be justified.

7) TABLES

Table headings must be placed above the table in Times New Roman, 11-point size (only table number should be bold); the first letters are capsized (e.g. Table 1: Tourism Revenues) and centered. Source should be indicated below the table and centered (e.g. Source: Pelit, 2005: 25), Times New Roman, 10-point size. If necessary, tables can be used in landscape page orientation.

8) FIGURES AND PICTURES

Figures and pictures headings should be in Times New Roman, 11-pint size (only the figure/picture heading and number is bold; only the first letters are capsized (e.g. Figure 1: A Visual for Tourism) and centered. Source must be indicated as centered below the figure/ picture (e.g. Source: Pelit, 2005:25), Times New Roman, 10-point size.  If necessary, figures and pictures can be used in landscape page orientation. please ensure they are .tif, .jpeg, or .bmp at a resolution of at least 300dpi and at least 10cm wide.

Note: It is not necessary to submit figures and tables as a separate file. Authors submit the main text as a whole.  Tables and Figures should be placed their right order in the text with taking the spelling rules into consideration.

9) CITIATION IN MAIN TEXT

References to other publications must be in APA style and must be indicated in parenthesis in text. Citations in the text should be the same as indicated below. It is not necessary to use page numbers in citations in main text. However, details must be indicated in references section.

For One Author:

e.g. (Spreitzer, 1996);  (Pelit, 2015)

For more studies citied: (Spreitzer, 1996; Pelit, 2015)

For Two Authors:

e.g.  For Foreign Studies; (Porath and Pearson, 2009)

             For Turkish Studies; (Ural ve Kılıç, 2014)

For Three Authors:

e.g. For Foreign Studies (James, Smith and Adams, 2008)

 For Turkish Studies; (Ural, Pelit ve Kılıç, 2015)

For More Than Three Authors:

After family name of first author in Turkish studies you should use ve diğerleri (vd.), in foreign languages you should use et al.

e.g. For foreign studies; (Smith, et al., 2010)

Turkish studies; (Tolay vd., 2012)    

For Anonymous Sources such as Institution Reports, Journal Articles or Web Sites:

e.g. Tourism revenues will rise in 2018 (KTB, 2017).

Tourism data obtained this year gives a clue that next year the tourist will experience a decrease in the amount of spending per capita (Tourism news, 2016).

         Household population survey contains data revealing that a high amount of population has migrated to cities (TUİK, 2017).

Examining the latest development plans,   It will be clearly understood that tourism sector has been given more space and importance recently (DPT, 2017).

Note: Details and URL (Web addresses) of citied references should clearly be indicated in references section.
