Aim: Guillain-Barre Syndrome (GBS) is an acute, inflammatory disease of the peripheral nerves and nerve roots. GBS is an acquiredacute poliradiculoneuropathy characterized by common sensory, motor and autonomic symptoms, usually accompanied byprogressive flask paralysis and deep tendon reflex reduction. In the literature, hearing loss accompanying GBS is very rare. Becauseof this, we presented a child patient who had bilateral modarately severe hearing loss at the age of 4 and had GBS.Method: The patient's data was written as a case report.Results: In this article pure-tone air-conduction thresholds, bone-conduction thresholds, speech reception threshold (SRT), andAuditory Brainstem Responses (ABR) of the patient were given.Conclusions: Multidisciplinary follow-up is needed in patients with GBS. The common neurological profile of patients with GBSwhich accompanied by sensorineural hearing loss (SNHL) is numbness in the distal extremities and facial paralysis. Especially forGBS patients with these findings, it is important to direct for audiological evaluation because hearing loss may also be encountered
ÖZETAmaç: Guillain-Barre Sendromu (GBS) periferiksinir ve sinir köklerinin akut, enflamatuvar immün bir hastalığıdır. GBSgenellikle ilerleyici flask paralizi ve derin tendon refleks azalması ilegiden, yaygın duyusal, motor ve otonomik semptomlarla karakterize edinsel akutpoliradikülonöropatidir. Literatürde, GBS’ye eşlik eden işitme kaybına nadirrastlanmaktadır. Bu nedenle bu raporda, 4 yaşında GBS tanısı almış olan,bilateral orta-ileri derecede sensörinöral işitme kaybı gelişen bir çocuk vakasunuldu.Yöntem:Hastanın verileri vaka sunumu olarak yazıldı.Bulgular:Makalede hastanın saf ses hava yolu eşikleri, kemik yolu eşikleri, konuşmayıalma eşikleri ( speech reception threshold [SRT] ) ve İşitsel BeyinsapıCevapları (Auditory Brainstem Response [ABR] ) verildi.Sonuç:GBS’li hastalarda multidisipliner takip gerekmektedir. GBS’ye sensorinöralişitme kaybı (SNİK) eşlik eden hastaların ortak nörolojik profili distalekstremitelerde uyuşukluk ve fasial paralizidir. Özellikle bu bulguların olduğuGBS vakalarında, işitme kaybına rastlanabileceğinden dolayı hastalarınodyometrik değerlendirmeye de yönlendirilmesi önemlidir.
