Article Retraction Process in the Turkish Journal of Remote Sensing
Turkish Journal of Remote Sensing attaches great importance to publication ethics and scientific integrity. In this regard, the process to be followed in case of retraction of an article published in our journal or under review is explained in detail below.
1. Retraction of Unpublished Articles
Articles not yet officially published in our journal can be withdrawn by the authors. To request a retraction, authors need to follow the steps below:
• Retraction Request: All authors must write a retraction request letter stating clearly and concisely why they wish to retract the article. This letter should explain the reasons for the retraction in detail and be signed by all authors.
• Submission to the Editor: The signed retraction request letter should be sent to the journal editor via email.
• Editor Evaluation: The editor will review the retraction request and get back to the authors within 15 days at the latest.
2. Retraction of Published Articles
The retraction of an article officially published in our journal may be considered in the following cases:
• Author Request: Authors may request a retraction if they discover a serious error in the article or if there is an ethical issue. In this case, the authors need to follow the steps mentioned above and submit a retraction request. However, in this case, the article can be retracted if the editor deems the retraction request appropriate.
• Editor Decision: The editor may retract the article if they detect ethical violations such as plagiarism, data manipulation, copyright infringement, or if the article contains serious errors that damage scientific integrity.
Retraction Process:
If a published article is retracted, the following steps are taken:
• Retraction Notice: A notice titled "Retraction: [Article Title]" is published in place of the article. This notice briefly explains the reasons for the retraction and includes the names of all authors.
• Watermark: A "Retracted" watermark is added to the PDF file of the retracted article.
• Access: The article remains accessible in the DergiPark system, but it is clearly stated that it has been retracted.
Author and Editor Responsibilities:
• Authors:
-They are obliged to immediately inform the journal editor if they find an error in the article or encounter an ethical problem.
- If they request a retraction, they must state the reasons for the retraction clearly and concisely.
• Editor:
-To evaluate retraction requests and make an appropriate decision.
-To carry out the retraction process through the DergiPark system and provide the necessary information.
This process is carried out in accordance with the publication ethics and scientific integrity principles of the Turkish Journal of Remote Sensing.
