Ekolojik Sürdürülebilirliğin Sanatsal Çalışmalara Yansıması: Newton ve Helen Mayer Harrison Örneği

Abstract

1970’lerden başlayarak uluslararası kurumların ekolojik sürdürülebilirliğe yapmış oldukları vurgu sanatçıların ilgisini çekmeye başlamıştır. Bu tarihten itibaren bazı sanatçılar, ekolojik sürdürülebilirlik konusuna eğilmiş; meseleyi çeşitli yollarla sanatsal çalışma ve projelerine dahil etmeye başlamışlardır. 1970’lerin başlarından itibaren sanatsal üretimlere başlayan ve ekolojik sanatın önemli isimleri arasına giren Newton Harrison ve Helen Mayer Harrison’ın çalışmalarının merkezinde de ekolojik sürdürülebilirliğin yer aldığı görülmektedir. Sanatçılar, ekolojik bozulmaya yönelik mevcut senaryolar ve geleceğe yönelik tahayyüllerin yer aldığı melez çalışmalar ortaya koymuşlardır. Araştırmada, Harrisonların çeşitli tarihlerde gerçekleştirmiş oldukları çalışmalar ele alınarak incelenecektir. Sanatçıların çalışmalarında ekolojik sürdürülebilirliğin bazen bir fikir olarak nasıl yer aldığı bazen de çalışmanın kendisinin sürdürülebilir süreçleri yansıtan deneyimsel ve ilişkisel bir alana nasıl dönüştüğü ortaya konulacaktır.
