About Us

The International Relations and Politics Association (ULIPOD) is a non-profit, non-governmental organization established to focus on the core subjects of the discipline of international relations, prioritizing the public interest.
Our association aims to encourage academic production in the main subfields of the discipline—such as foreign policy, security, diplomacy, migration studies, political economy, political theory, and regional studies—make this production visible at national and international levels, and establish a sustainable foundation for academic collaboration.
Based in the Akçakoca district of Düzce, our association operates both throughout Turkey and on an international scale, maintaining an open structure for cooperation with universities, research centers, independent researchers, and similar institutions.

Vision and Mission

Our vision is to create a formation that operates on the basis of publishing ethics, scientific quality, and institutional credibility in the field of international relations, one that is recognized internationally and stands out for its reliability and transparency in academic publishing.
Our mission is to create an academic platform for academics, researchers, and students working in the field of international relations that is independent, open-access, internationally recognized, and based on high ethical standards; to support the production of qualified knowledge and contribute to the development of free thought.

Founding Story

The International Relations and Politics Association (ULIPOD) was founded not only out of an institutional need but also from a sense of responsibility toward the structural deficiencies observed in the academic environment in our country.
There are very few high-quality and sustainable academic journals dedicated specifically to the discipline of international relations in Turkey. The number of journals working specifically in this area is limited, and the number indexed in international databases is even more restricted.
This situation significantly limits both the visibility of scientific output and the capacity for academic circulation.
In response to these shortcomings, the need arose to establish a structure that is firmly committed to publishing ethics, prioritizes critical thinking, and maintains institutional continuity. Our association was established to meet this need and to provide researchers working specifically in the field of international relations with an independent, transparent, and reliable publishing platform.
Today, this mission, which we carry out through The Journal of International Relations and Politics (ULIPOD), is not only a publishing activity but also a tangible expression of our belief in the public nature of knowledge and academic responsibility.

Approach to Academic Publishing

The most important activity of our association is the publication of The Journal of International Relations and Politics (ULIPOD), a peer-reviewed and open-access scientific journal published twice a year.
The journal focuses on areas such as foreign policy, peace, conflict, security, migration, regional studies, international law, diplomacy, political economy, and political history within the discipline of international relations. It features high-quality, original works that meet academic standards.
Our publishing approach, which complies with international standards, is based on the principles of transparency, a double-blind peer review process, strict adherence to publishing ethics, and editorial independence.

Principled Stance

The International Relations and Politics Association (ULIPOD) maintains an institutional stance in all its activities that adheres to high ethical standards, academic freedom and neutrality, and a consciousness of social responsibility. Believing that scientific production must be independent, transparent, and accessible, our association bases all its processes—from publishing to organization—on the principles of accountability, openness, and academic freedom.
While adopting an approach that supports the originality of research specific to the discipline of international relations, it also follows a selective publishing policy that prioritizes academic quality.
Supporting young researchers, ensuring equal opportunity, and building a sustainable network of academic interaction are among our core principles. These values are not merely at the level of discourse; they are directly reflected in our publishing policies, editorial decision-making processes, and organizational structure.
The International Relations and Politics Association (ULIPOD) is grounded in scientific independence and firmly defends academic freedom. Integrity in publishing, commitment to ethical principles, and neutrality are among our core values. Our structure, managed in line with the principles of transparency and accountability, prioritizes the public good. Supporting young researchers, ensuring equal opportunity, and promoting diversity are not only principles but are also tangibly reflected in all our areas of activity. Our association, which does not ignore the societal and environmental impacts of scientific production, is committed to responsible and inclusive publishing.

Sustainability Approach

The International Relations and Politics Association (ULIPOD) adopts a publishing policy aligned with the United Nations’ 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and supports the SDG Publishers Compact initiative.
In this context, we aim to contribute concretely to the following goals in particular:
• SDG 7: Affordable and Clean Energy
• SDG 13: Climate Action
• SDG 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions
In our publishing activities, we see it as our responsibility not only to produce knowledge but also to contribute to the shared future of the planet and societies.
