In this study, surface water sampling was carried out from 8 different stations in the lake between May 2019 and August 2019 in order to determine heavy metal concentrations off the shore of Edremit, Van Lake. Heavy metal concentrations such as Al, B, Cd, Co, Cr, Cu, Fe, Mn, Ni, Pb and Zn were measured in the samples. The results obtained are among the national legislations considered for lake water bodies; It was evaluated by comparing the limit values in the Surface Water Quality Regulation (SWQR) and the Water Pollution Control Regulation (WPCR). In addition, the significance level of the difference between stations and period measurements was tested by ANOVA analysis, and correlations between parameters were determined by Pearson Correlation Matrix. Van Lake, Edremit coast, in terms of boron IV. Class, in terms of Cd III. Class, in terms of Cr II. Class water quality feature. While the difference between stations
was not significant in terms of heavy metal parameters, the difference between periods was found significant. In addition, strong correlations were found between Fe, Cu, Cr and B parameters. It can be said that the heavy metal values measured in outlet wastewater of the Edremit Wastewater Treatment Plant (EWTP) are partially pressured on lake water in terms of Cr and Cu. When the effects of hydrogeochemical processes are also considered, it is of great importance to create measures programs to prevent spot and diffuse pollution caused by human activities.
