When the development of tourism in the world and in Turkey is examined, it is predicted that mass tourism movements have left their place to alternative tourism movements and this change will accelerate in the future. Wine tourism is one of the important alternative tourism movements that contribute to the development of tourism and affect the destination choices of potential tourists. The primary purpose of this study is to examine the way wine tourism is handled in the national literature, to determine the current features of the studies and to identify the missing study areas in wine tourism. In the literature review conducted for this purpose, 30 nationally published studies, including the keyword wine tourism, in the Google Scholar and YÖK National Thesis Center databases between 2004 and 2020 were reached. The mentioned works were examined with bibliometric analysis in line with the research aim. As a result, it is found that wine tourism studies have increased in number as of 2010, but still they are not sufficiently included in the national literature. In addition, another aim of the study is to examine the effect of vineyard routes, which are offered to tourists as a new touristic product in Turkey. In this context, Urla Vineyard Route was chosen as a sample for the case study, since it has not been the subject of any research in the national literature and is a developing touristic product.
