Ankara ilinde yer alan sahipli kedi ve kopek populasyonunun belirlenmesi

Abstract

Birçok ülkede kedi ve köpek sahipliği ile ilgili istatistikler tutulmakta ve buna ilişkin veteriner hizmetleri ile nüfus kontrolüne yönelik planlamalar yapılabilmektedir. Türkiye’de sahipli kedi ve köpek sayısının tahminine ait literatürde bir çalışma bulunmamaktadır. Nitekim sahipli hayvan kayıtlarının tutulması ile ilgili yasal bir zorunluluk olmadığından sağlıklı bir tahminde bulunulması oldukça zordur. Bu çalışmada, Ankara Büyükşehir Belediyesi sınırları içerisinde yer alan, özel veteriner klinikleri ile hastane kayıtları, kamu klinikleri ve Ankara Üniversitesi Veteriner Fakültesi klinik kayıtları incelenerek sahipli kedi ve köpek sayısı için bir alt sınır belirlenmesi amaçlanmıştır.Çalışma kapsamında Ankara Büyükşehir Belediyesi sınırları içerisinde yer alan kliniklerin 80 tanesinden bilgiler toplanmıştır. Bu bilgiler doğrultusunda en fazla sahipli hayvanın olduğu ilçe Çankaya ilçesi olarak görülmüştür. Elde edilen bilgilere göre Ankara Büyükşehir Belediyesi sınırları içerisindeki sahipli köpek sayısı tahmini alt sınırının 25-30 bin, sahipli kedi sayısının ise 15-20 bin olarak hesaplanmıştır

Determination of the number of owned cats and dogs in Ankara

Abstract

In many countries, cat and dog ownership statistics are kept and related veterinary services and population planning can be done according to these statistics. To our knowledge, there are no studies in the literature about estimated number of owned cat and dog in Turkey. However it is difficult to make a precise estimation because of the fact that there is not a legal obligation to keep ownership records of these animals. The aim of this study was to estimate a lower bound for the owned cat and dog population using the records of private veterinary clinics and hospitals including Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Ankara University as well as public clinics located within the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality.The data presented here obtained from 80 clinics that was located in metropolitan Ankara. Based on gathered information, Çankaya district was determined as the most populated district in terms of owned cat (dog) population. Our results showed that, a lower bound for the population of owned cats and dogs were determined as 25000-30000 and 1500020000 within boundaries of Ankara Metropolitan Municipality, respectively
