Günümüzde çevrimiçi ve uzaktan eğitimin önemi her geçen gün artmakta olup bu yeni eğitim yöntemi yaygın bir şekilde kullanılmaya başlanmıştır. Yüz yüze eğitimin yerine hızlıca geçmekte olan uzaktan eğitim sistemi, artık birçok insan için normal bir süreç olma yolundadır. 2020 yılının ilk aylarından itibaren bütün dünyayı etkisi altına alan COVID-19 pandemisi milyonlarca insanın hayatını etkilemiştir. Pandemi süreci bir tarafta insanların sağlığını ciddi anlamda tehdit ederken, diğer tarafta ülkelerin ekonomi ve eğitimini de ciddi anlamda zorlamaya başlamıştır. Bu süreçte ülkeler, hızlı bir şekilde çevrimiçi uzaktan eğitime geçmesine rağmen, eğitim programları ve eğitimin verimliliği halen tartışılmaya devam edilmektedir.Bu çalışmada Van Yüzüncü Yıl Üniversitesinde eğitim görmekte iken salgın nedeniyle uzaktan eğitim sistemine geçmek zorunda kalan uluslararası öğrencilerin bu uygulamaya karşı tutumları ve sistemin sahip avantaj ve dezavantajları ele alınmıştır. Ayrıca uluslararası öğrenciler açısından yarattığı fırsat eşitliği ve sürdürülebilirliği konusu tartışılmıştır. Mülakat tekniğinin kullanıldığı çalışmada uluslararası öğrenicilerin bu yeni uygulamadan yeterince istifade edemediği ve dil bariyerinin de olması nedeniyle birçok konuda Türkiye’deki akranlarına göre geride kaldığı belirlenmiştir.
Today, the significance of online and distance education is increasing day by day, and this new education method has started to have widespread use. The distance education system, which is rapidly replacing face-to-face education, is now on its way to becoming a normal process for many people. The COVID-19 pandemic, affecting the whole world since the first months of 2020, has affected the lives of millions of people. On the one hand, the pandemic process seriously threatens the health of people on the one hand, on the other hand, it has also forced countries in terms of economy and education. Despite the rapid transition of countries to online distance education in this process, educational programs and the efficiency of education still continue to be discussed. In this study, the attitudes of international students who had to switch to the distance education system owing to the epidemic while studying at Van Yüzüncü Yıl University, and the advantages and disadvantages of the system were discussed. In addition, the issue of equality of opportunity and sustainability for international students was discussed. In the study, in which the interview technique was used, it was determined that international learners could not benefit from this new application sufficiently and that they lagged behind their peers in Turkey in many subjects due to the language barrier.
