High School implemented in 2015, 2017 and 2018 together with the Turkish language and literature curriculum has emerged fundamental changes in the education literature in Turkey. The most important of these changes is the adoption of a genus-based approach rather than a chronological-based literature, and the other is the determination of learning areas based on language skills. As a result of these changes, learning areas are not based on literary periods; Reading, writing, speaking and listening skills were created according to. In addition, it was based on the text types of poetry, stories, novels and theater. Depending on this radical change, the design and content of the textbooks should be rearranged and shaped according to the philosophy of the new curriculum. For the study, 50 Turkish language and literature textbooks which have been used since the proclamation of the Republic have been examined. For this purpose, 50 TDE textbook subject area which can be accessed from 1926 starting from a yearly period is selected according to the textbook examination criteria and historically. In this study, the document analysis method which is one of the qualitative research designs was used and the findings were evaluated according to the descriptive analysis principles. In this study, the levels of TDE textbooks used from past to present or similar or contradictory aspects of teaching methods, the distance to the level reached in the teaching of Turkish language and literature and the ability to gain basic competences were examined. Based on this study, the historical development of Turkish language and literature textbooks is tried to be determined. The textbooks published until 1994 are usually prepared by only one author, there are no visual elements in the textbooks and there are no measurement and evaluation sections. Research results; It is thought that the textbooks to be prepared within the framework of the new education program will contribute to more qualified preparation in terms of teaching and material design principles.
