Seçimlerin maliye politikaları üzerinde yarattığı etki olarak ifade edilen politik bütçe hareketleri son dönemde pek çok çalışmaya konu olmuştur. Türkiye’de de seçimlerin maliye politikası üzerinde etkileri araştırılmıştır. Bu çalışmada Türkiye’nin 1950-2012 yılları arasındaki veriler kullanılarak seçimlerin cari ve yatırım harcamaları üzerindeki etkisi incelenmiştir. Sonuç olarak seçimden üç yıl önce cari harcamalar ve iki yıl önce de yatırım harcamalarında artış eğilimi gözlenmiştir.
