Uluslararası Öğrencilerin Üniversite Seçimini Etkileyen Etmenler

Year 2017, Volume: 7 Issue: 2, 94 - 104, 01.08.2017

Abstract

Araştırmanın amacı, Türkiye'deki yükseköğrenim kurumlarında öğrenim gören uluslararası öğrencilerin ülkeleri dışında bir üniversiteyi seçerken kullandıkları seçim ölçütlerini ortaya koymaktır. Araştırma, Türkiye'nin Marmara bölgesinde yer alan Gebze Teknik Üniversitesi ve Kocaeli Üniversitesi'nde öğrenim gören 67 ülkeden 228 uluslararası öğrencinin oluşturduğu çalışma grubu ile yapılmıştır. Çalışma nitel araştırma deseni kullanılarak gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırmanın verileri bir açık uçlu soru aracılığıyla toplanmıştır. Araştırmada elde edilen veriler içerik analizinin aşamalarına tabi tutulmuştur. Araştırma sonucunda uluslararası öğrencilerin üniversite tercihi yaparken kullandıkları ölçütler; akademik, örgütsel, ekonomik, sosyal ve bireysel etmenler olmak üzere beş ana tema altında toplanmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda uluslararası öğrencilerin üniversite tercihi yaparken kullandıkları en önemli ölçütün akademik etmenler altında yer alan eğitim kalitesi alt temasının olduğu saptanmıştır. Üniversite seçimindeki diğer önemli ölçütler ise burs olanakları, üniversitenin yer aldığı şehrin özellikleri, üniversitenin ve akademik personelin ünü, bölüm tercihi ve tanıdık önerileridir.
