                            <p>: Sexual development; physical, social, emotional, cognitive, etc. of an individual. It is a very important and necessary process, such as development areas. It is thought that it is important to have information about the sexual development of individuals with intellectual disabilities, to be as sensitive as possible to these differences and to be able to support the individual and his/her immediate environment when necessary. In this direction, the aim of the study is to evaluate the sexual development characteristics of adolescents with intellectual disabilities with the help of parental views. The research was carried out based on the reports of 282 parents who have children between the ages of 9-19, who live in Istanbul and have been diagnosed with intellectual disability. The data were collected with the Scale of Sexual Development Characteristics of Children with Adolescent Mental Disabilities, t-test for independent samples and one-way analysis of variance were used in the analysis of the data. According to the results obtained from the statements given by the participants, the sexual development characteristics of adolescents with intellectual disabilities; There is a significant difference in terms of parent&#039;s gender, educational status and the degree of intellectual disability of the adolescent who needs special education. In addition, no significant difference was found in terms of whether the parents live together or not and the gender of the adolescent. When the results obtained are compared with the results of the studies in the literature, it is thought that there is a need for more studies on the subject, although it has been revealed that there are similar and different findings. Based on the results, suggestions were made to researchers and parents and field experts who work with individuals with intellectual disabilities.</p></trans-abstract>
                                                                                                                                    <abstract><p>Cinsel gelişim; bir bireyin fiziksel, sosyal, duygusal, bilişsel vb. gelişim alanları gibi oldukça önemli ve gerekli bir süreçtir. Zihinsel yetersizliği olan bireylerin cinsel gelişimi hakkında bilgi sahibi olmanın hem bu farklılıklara olabildiğince duyarlı olmak hem de gerektiği durumlarda bireyin kendisine ve yakın çevresine destek verebilmenin önemli olduğu düşünülmektedir. Bu doğrultuda çalışmanın amacı, zihinsel yetersizliği olan ergenlerin cinsel gelişim özelliklerini ebeveyn görüşleri yardımıyla değerlendirmektir. Araştırma, İstanbul Küçükçekmece’de yaşayan, zihinsel yetersizlik tanısı almış 9-19 yaş arası çocuğu olan 282 ebeveynin bildirimleri üzerinden gerçekleştirilmiştir. Veriler Ergenlik Dönemi Zihinsel Yetersizliği Olan Çocukların Cinsel Gelişim Özellikleri Ölçeği ile toplanmış, verilerin analizinde bağımsız örneklemler için t-testi ve tek yönlü varyans analizi kullanılmıştır. Katılımcıların verdikleri bildirimlere bağlı elde edilen sonuçlara göre zihinsel yetersizliği olan ergenlerin cinsel gelişim özellikleri; ebeveynin cinsiyeti, eğitim durumu ve özel eğitime gereksinim duyan ergenin zihinsel yetersizlik derecesi açısından anlamlı farklılık oluşturmaktadır. Bunun yanı sıra ebeveynin birlikte yaşayıp yaşamama durumu ve ergenin cinsiyeti açısından anlamlı bir farklılık tespit edilmemiştir. Elde edilen sonuçlar alan yazındaki çalışma sonuçları ile karşılaştırıldığında benzer ve farklı bulguların olduğu ortaya konulmuş olsa da konuyla ilgili daha fazla çalışmaya ihtiyaç olduğu düşünülmektedir. Sonuçlardan yola çıkarak araştırmacılara ve zihinsel yetersizliği olan bireylerle birlikte olan ebeveyn ve alan uzmanlarına önerilerde bulunulmuştur.</p></abstract>
