"Journal of Surgery and Medicine" (JOSAM) is an open access, scientific publication that organizing international, independent, impartial and double-blind review in accordance with the guidelines. JOSAM is published three times a year. JOSAM accepts Turkish and English publications. The mandatory full-text language is English. The aim of the journal is to contribute to literature, which is the hand, arm and language of scientists who are trying to publish, by publishing articles such as "Research article", "Case report", "Review" and "Editorial". The articles should not be published anywhere else previously and should not be under review for publication in another journal. The articles that are not prepared according to the author guidelines will not be considered.
Processing and publication are free of charge with the journal. No fees are requested from the authors at any point throughout the evaluation and publication process. All manuscripts must be submitted via the online submission system, which is available at www.dergipark.gov.tr/josam. The journal technical information, author guidelines and the required forms are available on the web page.
Statements or opinions expressed in the manuscripts published in the journal reflect the views of only the author(s) of the paper. JOSAM, publisher, editorial board members, editors and reviewers disclaim any responsibility or liability for such materials. JOSAM holds the international copyright of all the content published in the journal.
Since the establishment, the journal has determined the
"International Committee of Medical Journal Editors" (ICMJE),
"World Association of Medical Editors " (WAME), "Council of
Science Editors" (CSE), "Committee of Publication Ethics" (COPE),
" European Association Science Editors" (EASE) and "National
Information Standards Organization "(NISO) as the guidelines in its
editorial and publication processes.

The first criteria, originality and high scientific quality were determined in the articles that were planned to be published in the journal. All articles submitted to the journal are passed through the double blind review process. In the event of a dispute between the referees, the article will be forwarded to a third referee or a editorial board member. The final decision-making authority of all articles in the decision-making process is editorial board. Opinions and ideas expressed in articles published in the journal are the opinions of authors only. The responsibility of the published content belongs to the authors. The editorial board and the publisher cannot undertake the responsibility of the published articles. Similarity in articles -"Plagiarism"- has been tested for all articles. Documents with inappropriate will be returned to the authors. The manuscripts will need to be unpublished in another magazine, book, or any other media before. For the studies presented in scientific congresses, the full name, date and place of the congress should be stated in the "Title Page".
The ICMJE suggests that authors meet the following four criteria: 1. To contribute to the content of the work / design and collection, analysis and interpretation of data for study; 2. To have drafted the writing essay or have made critical reviews with an important intellectual content; 3. To have reviewed and approved the last version of the article before its publication; 4. To accept the responsibility for all aspects of working to ensure that questions concerning the validity and validity of any part of the work are properly investigated and resolved.
JOSAM assumes that each person in the list of articles submitted is defined as a writer in the scope specified above, in accordance with the signed statement of the responsible author. JOSAM refers to existing or potential conflicts of interest, including financial, institutional and other relationships that may lead to potential conflicts of interest or prejudices in the evaluation process of the presented articles. The authors agree to be sent for the publication of the manuscript and transferred to JOSAM in accordance with the signed statement of the responsible author. The rejected articles will be returned to their authors. Authors who use previously published content, including pictures, tables, or other content in printed or electronic format, must obtain permission from the copyright owner. Legal, financial and criminal liability in this respect is the property of the authors. There is no fee for writing articles, evaluating articles, accepting and publishing articles.

Helsinki Declaration and Informed consent
In all studies with the "human" element, the principle of complying with the "Helsinki declaration principles" is sought. In such researches, the authors refer to the "Methods and methods" section of the study in accordance with the "Helsinki Declaration principles", Ethical committee approval and "informed consent" by those participating in the study. The institution and number/date information for the ethics committee approval should only be given on the title page. If "Animal" substance is used in the study, authors are obliged to indicate that they are working in accordance with the principles of "manuals and methods for the use of laboratory animals" and to conduct research in accordance with ethical rules. In case presentations, it should be noted that "informed consent" has been received independently of the patient's identity. Patients have privacy rights that should not be violated without receiving informed consent. The identification of the information, including the patient's name, initials or hospital numbers, should not be published in written descriptions, photographs and soy trees unless necessary for scientific purposes, and the patient (or parent or guardian) written for publication Gives informed consent. The notified consent for this purpose requires that an identifiable patient be presented with the published manuscript. Authors should identify the individuals who help the authors and disclose the resources of this help. Specifying details should be skipped when they are not required. However, it is difficult to obtain a complete anonymity, and if you have doubts, informed consent should be taken. For example, the eye area mask in photos of patients is insufficient protection of anonymity. If identifying characteristics are altered to protect anonymity, such as in genetic pedigrees, authors should provide assurance that alterations do not distort scientific meaning and editors should so note.
The Declaration of Helsinki states that "Every clinical trial must be registered in a publicly accessible database before recruitment of the first subject".
The articles should be prepared in accordance with the "ICMJE-Recommendations for the Conduct, Reporting, Editing and Publication of Scholarly Work in Medical Journal”
Accepted languages are Turkish and English. Article submission can only be sent through the online article upload and evaluation system at "http://dergipark.gov.tr/josam". Compliance with the journal spelling rules will be checked by the secretariat first, and articles not prepared for the journal spelling rules will be returned with the technical correction requests.
All articles should be prepared separately as the title page and main text file, and images must also be installed to the system. Manuscripts must be written in a Microsoft Word ® document, 12 fonts, left-justified, double-spaced, and "Times New Roman" character.
For each article, the form of "Copyright transfer, Conflict of Interest and Financial Disclosure Statement" must be uploaded to the system on the date of submission, as signed by the responsible author.
All abbreviations in the main text must be given where they are used for the first time, followed by an abbreviation in parentheses after the comment. Product information, including product name, manufacturer, city and country information, should be enclosed in parentheses in the main text.
Statistical analysis should be conducted according to the rules of reporting statistical data in medical journals (Altman DG, Gore SM, Gardner MJ, Pocock SJ, statistical guidelines for those contributing to medical journals, Br Med J 1983:7,1489-1493). Information about statistical analysis should be written in the methods section and the software used should be precise. The units are prepared in accordance with International Unit Systems (SI), the international unit system.
A separate "Title Page" file must be sent with all submitted articles. This page should include the following;
-Turkish and English titles of the article,
-Turkish and English short titles,
-Names of authors, academic titles, institutions and e-mail addresses,
-ORCID Id of the authors
-Corresponding author's name, address, cell phone and email address,
-For the studies presented in scientific congresses, the full name of the congress, the date and place where it was made,
- If ethics committee approval for human studies is available, information about the institution and number/date related to approval, or if not available, information about the situation for which reason there is no need to take,
-Ethics committee approval for experimental animals should be provided with the number/date of the institution's information and ethics board approval.
Main Text File
The contents of the text file are summarized below and must begin on a new page using the page-end function in Word:
Turkish and English titles of the article, Abstract/Oz (Abstract in Turkish language), on the same page with Key words/Anahtar kelimeler (Key words in Turkish language), Introduction, Materials and methods, Results, Discussion, Acknowledgement (optional), References, Figure legends and Tables
All articles except "Letter to Editor" and "Editorial" should not exceed 250 words in English and Turkish abstracts as "Abstract/Oz".
Abstracts of "Research article" the paper should be prepared to include "Aim/Amaç", "Methods/Yöntemler", "Results/Bulgular" and "Conclusion/Sonuç" subheadings.
Non-structural abstracts are accepted for "Review" and "Case report".
The abbreviation should not be used in summary as much as possible. The system should also be loaded again, with the title of the article at the top of the first page of the text file being uploaded.
Keywords/ Anahtar Kelimeler
All articles must be submitted with at least 3 and up to 6 keywords, and keywords should be written as "Key words" just below Turkish and English articles. Abbreviations should not be used as keywords. The keywords should be selected from the Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) prepared by the National Library of Medicine (NLM) and the TR index keyword list or the Turkish Science terms (www.bilgiterimleri.com) databases. When the keywords are uploaded to the online article system, the first page of the text file must be written with an abstraction.
Article text properties by article type
Research article: The main text must include "Introduction", "Materials and methods", "Results" and "Discussion" sections. The limitations, barriers, and deficiencies of the original investigation must be specified before the result paragraph in the discussion section. The final paragraph of the discussion section should be designed as the final part of the article.
Review: Written reviews prepared by experts who have accumulated experience and are reflected in the number of international publications and quotations. The authors can also be invited in the journal. Authors can also be invited by the journal. It should be prepared in a format that explains, discusses, evaluates, and carries out future work for the final level of knowledge or the use of the subject for clinical use. There are no defined subheading sections, but the sections of the article must be specified by the author.
Case report: Main text: "Introduction", "Case Presentation" and "Discussion" subheadings.
Editorial: The purpose of the briefing will be interpreted by a writer who is an expert in research. The authors are selected and invited by the journal. Uninvited editorial comments are not acceptable.
Letter to Editor: articles could be sent as an editorial letter to discuss the importance of a previously published article, a detailed piece or missing parts. The number one reference of the article must belong to the publication of the written letter and should be included in the text. Summary, keywords, tables, shapes, pictures, and other images are not used. The main text must have subheadings. The maximum number of references must be more than that.
The tables must be added to the main file that is presented after the numbered reference list in the main text by the transition order. The tables must include descriptive headings and the expansions of the abbreviations in the table should be defined under the table. Tables must be prepared in a Microsoft Office Word file by using the "Insert Table" command and can be easily read. The data presented in the tables must not be repeated in the main text; The data in the main text must be supportive.
Picture and Image Subtitles
Pictures/Figures must be cited in the main text by giving the appropriate number of places. Images, graphics, and photos (in TIFF or JPEG format) must be uploaded to the system in separate files. Pictures should not be placed in a Word document or master document. When there are images separated by sub-units, the lower units should not be provided in a single image. Each subunit must be installed on the system as a separate file. Pictures, subunits (a, b, c, etc.) Should not be labeled to identify. Thick and thin arrows, arrowheads, stars, asterisks, and similar markings can be used to support captions in pictures. The person and organization information in the pictures must be blinded. The minimum resolution of images should be 300 dpi. All submitted images must have a clear resolution and a large size (minimum dimensions 100x100 mm) to avoid any interruption in the evaluation process. Picture captions must be placed at the end of the main text.
When cited, the latest and most recent publications should be preferred. All sources must be shown in the main text by numbering them where appropriate. The authors are responsible for the correctness of the references. If possible, the DOI numbers of online articles that have been cited before must be provided. Journal titles should be abbreviated according to journal abbreviations at Index Medicus/Medline/PubMed. When there are six or fewer authors, all author names should be listed. If there are seven or more authors, then the first six authors should be put "et al." after writing. For writing in the text, Arabic numbers should be used in square brackets when referring to sources in the main text for example [1,2].

Provided that the manuscript complies with the manuscript preparation guidelines, it goes through a reviewing process: manuscript seen first by the Editor-in-Chief and the Editorial Board members, then sent to at least two blinded-peer-reviewers. Reviewers may either accept the article as it is, request minor or major revisions, or reject. In case there is disagreement between reviewers, the manuscript may be sent to an extra reviewer. The article can be published only after the required revisions are fulfilled by the author. However, taking into consideration the recommendations of the reviewers, final decision belongs to the Editor. Note that a double-blind peer review system is adopted; reviewer is unaware of the identity of the author, and the author is also unaware of the identity of reviewer.
Corrections / Revisions
When submitting revision files of authors ' writings, they must mark the changes they have made in the main text and, in addition, send their notes to the "Reply to referee" notes on suggestions proposed by the referees. In response to referees, each author must come up with a list of the lines in which the changes were made. The revised articles should be submitted to journals within 30 days following the decision letter. If the revision version of the revised version does not install in the specified time, the fix it option may be canceled. If the authors need additional time for revision, they should send the extension requests to the journals within the first 30 days. The articles accepted for publication are checked for grammar, punctuation, and format. Printed PDF files of acceptable articles are forwarded to the responsible author, and the publication approvals are requested to be sent to the association within 2 days. Publication of completed articles will be published in early online format on the journal website before publication with the number in the release plan.

WITHDRAWAL OF A MANUSCRIPT
