This article examines contemporary recognition debate. ‘Recognition
debate’ is a term which refers to a political-philosophical exchange’ basically
took place between Axel Honneth and Nancy Fraser. The main idea of the debate
is to examine if concepts of Hegelian phenomenology such as ‘struggle for
recognition’ is appropriate for understanding contemporary identity politics
and is possible to reconcile categories of recognition and redistribution. The
aim of the article, drawing on the debate between these theorists, is to provide
a new thinking for identity politics and struggle for recognition.
