AR-GE Harcamaları ve Ekonomik Büyüme Arasındaki İlişki: Türkiye Örneği

Ülkeler arasındaki
gelişmişlik farkları, uzun yıllar boyunca hem iktisatçıların hem de politika
yapıcıların üzerinde önemle durduğu bir konu olmuştur. Ülkelerin gelişmişlik
düzeylerinin en önemli göstergelerinden birisi ekonomik büyüme oranlarıdır. Bu
nedenle ekonomik büyüme oranı yüksek olan ülkelerin, bunu nasıl
gerçekleştirdiği ve bu büyümenin ne şekilde sürdürülebilir kılınacağı önem arz
etmektedir. Dünya ekonomisinde meydana gelen gelişmeler ve ülkeler arasında
artan rekabet ile birlikte, ekonomik büyümenin belirleyicileri de değişikliğe
uğramıştır. Bu çalışmada Türkiye’de AR-GE yatırım harcamalarının büyümeye olan
katkısı incelemek amacıyla, 2005-2015 dönemine ait Sanayi Üretim Endeksi ve AR-GE
harcamalarının gayri safi yurtiçi hasıla içerisindeki payı değişkenleri
kullanılmıştır. Çalışmanın ampirik analizi sonucunda, Türkiye’de AR-GE
yatırımlarından ekonomik büyümeye doğru nedensellik tespit edilmiştir.

Relationship Between R&D Expenditures and Economic Growth: Example of Turkey

Öz

Economic growth and the differences in the growth rates among countries
are popular subjects for both politicians and economists for long decades.
Growth rate is one of the main indicators for the economic development. On that
aspect, it is crucial to determine the components of the economic growth in
developed countries to find out how they succeed to reach that growth rates.
And also the sustainability in growth is another very important topic to be
discussed. Considering the dynamic changes in the world economy and the
competition in the markets leads the changes in the determinants of the
economic growth. In this study it is aimed to investigate the effect of R&D
expenditures on economic growth. In order to evaluate the possible effects,
Industry Production Index and the portion of R&D expenditures in GDP are
considered as variables for the period 2005-2015. The empirical test results
support causality from R&D expenditures to economic growth.
