N2  - SUMMARYThe Evaluation of Knowledge and Practice About Insulin Injection Method ofDiabetic Patients:   This study has been performed in a descriptive manner with the purpose of providinga direction for teaching and applications of nurses and patients/families, as wellas of preparing training materials upon assessment of insulin injection procedure of diabetics>yho perform sel{injection of insulin.This study was based on 250 diabetics with an age of 16 and over, who attendedpolyclinics of Department of Diabetes and Metabolism of Istanbul University CerrahpasaFaculty of Medicine, as well as polyclinics of Turkish Diabetes Society Hospital, betweenSeptember 05,2000 and February 09,2001.An interview form was used to collect the data, and the said data has been evaluatedby means of appropriate statistical methods.  It has been determined upon evaluation of the findings within scope of such surveythat 60_,8_ % _used insuljn pen, and the remaining 39,2% used insulin. i1~jector a~ themethod of mJect1011, and t9)lt those subjects, who used pen and had a trammg on d1abe.tes, were better equipped as to their acknowledgement regarding insulin .injection procedure.  In conclusion, it has been considered that data regarding the porcedure for insulininjection of diabetic individuals insufficient/inadequate, and that parallel to such finding,training materials should be developed and the same made available to nurses andpatients as well as families thereof by means of periodic training programs.Key Words: Diabetes mellitus, Insulin injection method.
