AB  - Günümüz zihin felsefesi tartışmaları açısından önem arz eden fizikselcilik görüşü Frank Jackson tarafından, ünlü Mary’nin Odası düşünce deneyi ile eleştiriye tabi tutulmuştur. Jackson qualia’nın bilgisinin fiziksel olamayacağını göstermeyi hedeflediği bu düşünce deneyi ile epifenomenal bilginin mümkünlüğünü ortaya koymaya çalışmıştır. Jackson’ın başlattığı bu tartışma bugün halen sıcaklığını korumaktadır. Bu çalışmada Jackson’ın argümanına yöneltilen iki temel itiraz kategorisinden biri olan ikinci öncül itirazının başarılı bir itiraz olamayacağını göstermeye çalışacağım. İkinci öncüle göre Mary siyah beyaz odasını terk ettikten sonra renklere dair yeni şeyler öğrenebilecektir. Bu öncüle yöneltilen itiraz türünün ortaya koyduğu argümanın dayandığı felsefi temellerin Kartezyen-Materyalist olduğu ve indirgemeciliğin doğru olduğu varsayımına dayanan bir fizikselcilik görüşünü savunduğunu ortaya koymaya çalışacağım. Öte yandan Jackson’ın argümanında itiraz edilen öncülün de aynı felsefi temellere dayanması sebebiyle ortaya koyacağım eleştirilerden eşit derece etkileneceğini iddia edeceğim. Son olarak Kartezyen cum Materyalist fizikselcilik ve indirgemecilik görüşlerine dayanmayan dışsalcı bir qualia anlayışı benimsendiğinde Jackson’ın argümanının fizikselciliğe ciddi bir tehdit oluşturamayacağı savunulacaktır.

N2  - The view of physicalism, which is important for today's philosophy of mind debates, was criticized by Frank Jackson with the famous Mary's Room thought experiment. Jackson tried to demonstrate the possibility of epiphenomenal knowledge with this thought experiment in which he aimed to show that the knowledge of qualia cannot be physical. This debate initiated by Jackson is still hot today. In this paper, I will try to show that the second premise objection arguing that Mary would learn something new about colors after exiting her black and white room, which is one of the two main categories of objections to Jackson's argument, cannot be a successful objection. For this purpose, I will try to show that the philosophical foundations of the argument put forward by this type of objection are Cartesian cum materialist and that it defends a view of physicalism based on the assumption that reductionism is true. On the other hand, I will argue that the premise challenged in Jackson's argument will be equally affected by the criticisms I will put forward, since it rests on the same philosophical foundations. Finally, I will argue that Jackson's argument cannot pose a serious threat to physicalism if one adopts an externalist conception of qualia that is not based on Cartesian cum Materialist views of physicalism and reductionism.
