AB  - Darüşşafaka, 19. yüzyılın son çeyreğinde müslüman ve yoksul çocuklara, ilkokuldan başlayıp, idadi seviyesinin üstüne çıkacak şekilde nitelikli bir eğitim vermek amacıyla kurulmuş ve hâlâ eğitim vermeyi sürdüren bir okuldur. Sivil bir okul olarak kurulmasına rağmen, askeri bir okul olan Fransız Prytanée National Militaire de la Flèche’in müfredatı Darüşşafaka’ya uygulanmış, ders kitapları bu okulun kitaplarından tercüme edilmişti. Ayrıca, ilk dönem öğretmenlerinden hatırı sayılır bir kısmı, Mekteb-i Harbiye ve Mekteb-i Tıbbiye’den mezun subaylardı. Bu makalede, ders programları, ders kitapları, öğretmenleri ve laboratuvarı/bilimsel aletleri temel alınarak (1873/74) tarihinde kuruluşundan, idaresinin Maarif Nezareti’ne geçtiği (1903/4) yılına kadar Darüşşafaka’da fizik eğitiminin tarihi incelenmiştir.

N2  - Darüşşafaka is a school which was established in Istanbul in the lastquarter of the nineteenth century to provide quality education for poor muslimchildren from elementary to high school level. It still carries on providingeducation with success. Although the Darüşşafaka was a civilian school fromthe very beginning, its educational program was adopted from the PrytanéeNational Militaire de la Flèche; textbooks were translated into Turkish fromthose of the French school and a considerable number of Darüşşafaka teacherswere military officers graduated from the Mekteb-i Harbiye or the Mekteb-iTıbbiye. Taking into consideration its curricula, textbooks, teachers andscientific instruments, this article examines the history of physics education atthe Darüşşafaka from its foundation in 1873/74 up to 1903/04 when itadministratively became attached to the Ministry of Education.
