KW - Adli tıp KW - Elektroşok KW - silah KW - TASER yaralanmaları N2 - Introduction and Purpose: Electroshock weapons have gained significant popularity among law enforcement agencies and civilians in recent years, though they have also sparked controversy due to potential misuse. These devices are portable instruments designed to temporarily incapacitate a target by delivering a high-voltage, low-amperage electric current. Common types include Tasers, stun guns, and stun batons. This study presents two cases in which individuals sought medical attention due to injuries inflicted by electroshock weapons, with the goal of preparing forensic reports. Cases: The first case involved an individual presenting with blunt traumatic lesions on the occipital region of the head and the second finger of the right hand, in addition to skin injuries associated with the use of an electroshock weapon on the left arm and left leg. In the second case, lesions were observed on the right ear auricula and lateral right eye as a result of blunt traumatic impact, although no lesion attributable to the electroshock weapon itself was documented. Discussion and Conclusion: The use of low-quality or untested electroshock weapons can lead to unintended harm, including both electrical effects and blunt traumatic injuries. Careful monitoring is essential, particularly for individuals at heightened risk. Injured individuals should undergo thorough examination for dart/probe penetrations, skin burns, and blunt traumatic injuries, with detailed documentation of any typical skin lesions observed.
