Unlike the literature, this study tried to examine the direct effect of the learning environment outside the classroom. As quantitative research, the study was designed according to the quasi-experimental research design with a pre-test and post-test control group. The study group consisted of thirty-two 8th-grade students. The pressure subjects’ activities were designed per the curriculum and implemented in the classroom for the control group and in the schoolyard for the experimental group. The activities were implemented for ten hours. The data collection tools were the Pressure Achievement Test, Motivation Scale for Learning Science, and Attitude towards Science Scale. The skewness-kurtosis coefficient and Shapiro-Wilk test were used for the normality test before and after the application. Independent samples t-test was used to analyze the data. The data shows no statistically significant difference in students’ academic achievement and attitudes toward learning science. However, there is a significant difference in students’ motivation towards learning science. In conclusion, OCL may be more successful if they are implemented for a more extended period.}, number={1}, publisher={İnönü Üniversitesi}
