Bu çalışmada, fen eğitiminde sosyo bilimsel konuların yer aldığı çalışmaların genel yapısının ve alandaki geçmişten günümüze olan durumun ortaya konulması amacıyla bibliyometrik analiz gerçekleştirilmiştir. Bu amaç doğrultusunda “Scopus” veri tabanında yer alan ilgili çalışmalar belirlenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Veri analizi için R programı kütüphanesinde yer alan bibliometrix paket programı altında yer alan “biblioshiny” bibliyometrik analiz programı kullanılmıştır. Öncelikli olarak “Socio Scientific Issues” ve “Science Education” anahat kelimeleri kullılarak 458 çalışmaya ulaşılmış ve 400 çalışma dahil etme ve hariç tutma kriterleri ile bibliyometrik analize dahil edilmiştir. Veri analizinde bibliometrix paketi için bir R Studio programı olan "biblioshiny" paket programı kullanılmıştır (Aria ve Cuccurullo, 2017). Araştırma sonucunda SBK ile ilgili Türkiye merkezli yapılan çalışmaların sayısının fazla olmasına karşın, yapılan atıf sıralamasın da ilk beş ülke arasında yer almamaktadır. SBK en çok işlenen konunun sürdürülebilirlik, vatandaşlık konuları öğrenci ve e-öğrenme merkezli çalışmalardan oluştuğu görülmektedir. En üretken yazarların Sadler, Zangori ve Ke oldukları görülmektedir. “Internatıonal Journal of Science Education” dergisi SBK ile ilgili en fazla çalışmanın yayınladığı dergi olduğu belirlenmiştir. Bunun yanı diğer çalışmalar için, SBK ile ilgili olarak yapay zeka çalışmalarının gerçekleştirlmesi önerilmektedir.
